Hi, I have a question but was not sure where it would fit in so I decided this might be the best place. I am planning on going on a little holiday. My question is: Is it safe to go into the hot springs while you are on prednisone and cyclophsaphamide?

I would say not for longer than 15 or 20 mintues at one time per day.
Are you going to Banff?

Cindy, if it were just hot water like a jacuzzi, it's best to limit it to 5-10 minutes. The heat increases your circulation, heart rate and bp--not good with those drugs. But it's the sulfur aspect of the hot springs that has me squirming. It can pull toxins out of you (which is one reason why it's so healing), but your drugs are necessary toxins. You don't want them being detoxed from your body. Also, once you've taken chemo some of it remains in the body indefinitely. It can be released into your bloodstream during any type of detox and become quite dangerous.

On one of my very bloated days a lovely lady at the local shop patted my tummy and asked when my baby was due, so I had to tell her it was medication related and came home and cried, but what made me laugh was as I was relating this story to my 17 son, ( typical ape man who only grunts a lot ), expecting hopefully some sympathy, instead got hysterical laughter and writhing around on the ground. Don't worry I will get him back!!! Have to think of some devious and very embarrassing....
