Re: Wegeners is back!
You will find that a cold lasts longer. Using my childhood doc’s observation about colds for “normal” people, he said, “If you treat a cold, it’ll last seven days. If you leave it alone, it’ll last a week.” That said, I find my colds last about 10 days when they only lasted 3-5 days in my pre-wegs life.
I treat colds with OTC medications such as Zicam and Mucinex (12-hour dosage). If I have a lot of nasal congestion, I’ll rinse my sinuses daily using a Neti pot and saline packets mixed into distilled water. Use distilled water because well water and tap water contain a few bacteria.
Antibiotics are generally not appropriate for treating colds. However, I take a bactrim DS on MWF as prophylaxis for PCP pneumonia as part of my normal treatment regimen.
Good luck!! Hope you feel better soon!!

Re: Wegeners is back!
I have had colds while on immune suppressants and for me it was no different than usual. Which is still plenty miserable. Take good care of yourself.
