Thank You, Jack Klugman
Last night on "The Rachel Maddow Show" guest host Ezra Klein did a wonderful tribute to the actor Jack Klugman, who died this week. "The Rachel Maddow Show" is a political show but this segment was not about politics so I hope it's okay with others that I post it. I wasn't aware of Jack Klugman's contributions to those of us with "orphan" diseases. It's a very unusual story and I thought everyone would enjoy it.

Thank you, Sangye. I had no idea, he really was an important man.

This is the same story, in written form, for those who might not be able to view the video above. It's from the Washington Post.

What an amazing story of what it takes to sometimes get government leaders to do the right things to help the people they are supposed to serve. Think of the thousands of lives saved by this gutsy actor. We need a dozen more like him today.

Thank you for sharing this Sangye, what a great man he was.

I'm so glad you shared that, Sangye, because though I heard about it elsewhere, I missed the Maddow segment! I wish we lived in a country where profit margins were not always the prime reason for considering a line of research and development. Thanks to Jack for using his celebrity status to make a big difference.

Great clip, Sangye! I was a Quincy, MD fan but don't remember those episodes. It's wonderful to see folks like Jack Klugman use their influence and popularity to make a difference! Thanks for sharing!

I watched both the Odd couple and Quincy yet didn't know about the bill. How many lives were saved because of this Bill, we will never know. Thank you Mr. Klugman
