Good morning friends. I actually left the hospital yest to take care of some business. While I was gone hubby was moved to a step down unit. They just hadn't needed the ICU room so had let him stay. Still running the fevers in early morn hrs, but good news is the blood cultures were negative. They are leaning toward the leukemia being cause. Going to discuss with hematology Fri if can start treatment for that along with this fungal. He is already very low immune, I guess they are considering options. That's where he is today.

Great news Victoria, hope he keeps improving. I'm glad you got to leave the hospital for a while. Keep us posted, imagine me doing a happy dance for you!!

Is vanco the same as VRE?

They told me it was easy to treat when I had it. The pills were expensive but they said it was easy thing to kill. However, the hospitals treat you like it is really contagious. The big plus was it guaranteed you a private room and staff always used good sterile techniques in my room which protected me from getting contaminated with something new.

Vanco is Vancomyacin a strong antibiotic, VRE is Vanco Resistant Enterococcus, a bacteria resistant to vancomyacin.

The last 2 days have been a wonderful change. My husband came home after 22 days this time. He is weak but greatly improved. Decided not to start chemo this past Fri as was once discussed. We are to go back Fri and talk about that. You guys have been a great support system. Thanks. Victoria
