On Monday I had a bad coughing session. Caused some new very intense pain on the left side. Went for a massage yesterday and then last night the pain got even worse. Today I went to ER and had x-ray. Doc said a couple ribs are fractured and gave me some morphine. Hope it kicks in soon.

Wow, Phil, so sorry to hear about the intense coughing and fractured ribs. I remember feeling like that when I had lung involvement and was really sick.... I wondered if I had some cracked ribs, but never found out, and things got better. If it is bad enough for morphine, it sounds pretty bad. I hope it is not a sign of a flare or some other serious problem.

Well, I guess all I can say is enjoy the morphine, if you can, and I hope the pain will subside quickly and the ribs will heal soon.

Ouch!! I had something similar about 18 months ago. Ended up with a pulled rib cage muscle. Hurt like hell when I coughed, and two days of persistent hiccups was a killer. Hope the drugs work for you.Originally Posted by pberggren1

Sorry to hear. I hope the pain goes away quickly. Wouldn't mind trying out that morphine, not that I'm any pain though.

It's times like these that you would definately enjoy bubble wrap and cotton wool.
