Hey, thank you Phil. I'm sure he will be able to do it as long as he is careful. He is very good at his job. After all these years of experience I know he will try and be careful. I keep telling him to look around all the time. He knows that so I'm sure he will do OK. As you must have had to do when you were not hearing.

Back when my hearing was not very good I really had to look around lots especially if I was walking around on the streets.

My grandpa used to build custom cabinets.

He might take a hearing aid, but that really doesn' work anymore, but he can hear a tiny bit with it.

My osseo implant hearing aid greatly improved my hearing as I was almost total deaf in right ear. Now I can hear a lot more on that side through the aid attached to my mastoid bone. Maybe this might be an option to explore for Dean. If he is deaf in one ear Medicare will probably cover the operation.

Barbara, I think it's great that Dean feels well enough to work again. It'll help keep his mind off of being sick. Please don't worry about him not being careful in regards to his hearing. I don't know anyone with sudden onset hearing loss (as opposed to gradual, aging-related loss) who isn't very aware of their surroundings.

Phil, Dean has been doing it for over 50 years. He use to do Custom and then he went to doing big building's and school's, hosptial's and jails. When he was once working in Juneau, Alaska, he locked his self in the jail by mistake. He had his tools so he had to go through the wall. Then he had to replace the wall. We always joke about that. Dean's hearing went within one week and damaged the left ear where he can't hear out of it at all and the right he can hear only on his speaker he put's in his ear and he has to point it at you. He drives and that worry's me too. He is starting to look around better, but the weggies really did a lot of damage before we new what was going on with him. He had to start coughing up blood from his lungs before they figured out what was going on. His eyes were hurting and his hearing went so fast. When we go out to eat or something, we put the speaker between us and he puts the ear piece in his ear so we can talk. We set really close. What a way to be close again.

Barbara. I agree with Sangye: If Dean wants to work, let him. It is important on many levels to keep doing what makes you feel that you are contributing.

I also do agree with Sangye too. I just can't help worrying a little. He did good yesterday and went today. Thanks for all of your support. This group is just wonderful. You are the only ones that understand.
