    Default Cytoscopy

    Hi

Has anyone had the cytoscopy procedure? I'm booked in for this at the hospital, due to haematura in the urine.
Does it hurt? I wanted to be sedated, but the doctor said they use local anaesthetic instead. I'm dreading it!

A local should be good, ask them to give you something for anxiiety. Tell them that a nurse told you they would hold your hand and take care of you. :-)

I had it done 2 times. They gave me topical analgesia so that all I felt was pressure. They fill your bladder with water when the scope goes in. It is over very fast. Just drink a lot of water after the procedure so that you don't develop cystitis. They also gave me an antibiotic pill, just one. I can honestly say it did not hurt at all. But I did see some other ladies that did feel pain. Here's hoping you are like me and will be painless

    I've had it too.

I found it uncomfortable but not painful.
