Hmm, wish I knew more, perhaps should google. I'm pretty sure I got a topical anesthetic and there was bleeding from my nose during the procedure, but it was just right there in his office chair. I hope you're procedure goes smoothly, and it will be good to get more info on what is going on.

From googling I found out that nasal biopsy is often done with a topical anesthetic but sometimes with GA. Perhaps the tissue they want to test is further back in your nasal cavity than mine was, and harder to get at.

Good luck! It'll be over soon.

Why are you getting a nasal biopsy?

Oh, I hope Drz is ok. Where soes he live?
Hope biopsy goes well and the surgery yields some answers.

I am fine and don't live near Sandy. My daughter and her family are stuck in NYC with no power, heat, water, etc and says it is getting old walking up nine stories in the dark but otherwise they are fine. We have big snow storm heading our way this weekend but otherwise have had a mild Fall. Some cars in ditch last night on roads west of us but that is rather normal for first snow storm in Fall.

Did the big floods affect you a few years ago? Mother nature can be pretty tough at times.

I had the biopsy done under general aneasthetic to confirm my wegs diagnosis.
My ENT said that they don't like doing them in their office using the numbing spray because they have to go in a fair way to get reasonable tissue samples.
I was under for about half an hour and the post op experience was fine. A little bit of bleeding but nothing like I was used to getting before. A bit of packing in the nose that needed to stay in for a few days and no pain in the area to speak of.
The only thing I didn't like about it afterwards was that I could lie down for the first 24 hours and I could have a hot shower or eat or drink hot food.....after that, everything was fine.
The nose is still clogged and crusty though and still has minimal bleeds.

Even if it is wegs, they may not find anything from this biopsy.
It could just be the blood vessels and inflammation causing the problem.

Could luck for Tuesday......I'm sure it will be fine

I'm having the biopsy because I have been having nose bleeds since Aug (and nevre before). We've ruled out other culprits and need to make sure it's not Wegs in my sinuses. They found a couple of places and need to get a better look and samples. At first I thought it was silly since I already know I have Weg's, but it will be good to know since I have been on Cytoxan for the last year. If it is Weg's then obviously the disease isn't under control and if it isn't, then maybe it is and a green light for coming off Cytoxan. So, I feel this is the right thing to do.

I broke my nose back in 1990 and had to have surgery to repair the broken septum, so I don't expect this to be near as bad.

I didn't have much damage to my property but I have a creek in front of my house and the water was up to the bridge in my drive (it was over the bridge at several of my neighbors on the left. I'm around 4 miles from Opryland and it was bad over there. It was such a horrible sight around town.

Thansk all and have a great week. I'll update everyone after Tuesday.

Let's hope the biopsy comes back negative and it is not WG related and they can take you off that nasty Cytoxan.

Hello! I'm home. Turns out that it wasn't just a biopsy but he had to remove my middle turbinates, something with a cyst in one of my sinuses, and got lots of tissue samples. The worst part, as always, was getting the IV started. I told them before the first stick it wouldn't be easy and they may want to call for back-up (Anesthesiologist). Neither the nurse (5 sticks) or the Anesthesiologist (1 stick in the shoulder area) could get it going. The decided to get me in the OR, give me a little gas and then started the IV in my foot. The OR was pretty cool and they were so nice and talked to me about everything from the music they were listening to and football, to our dogs. Next think I know I’m waking up.

All in all, that was the worst part of it. I have a little pain but the stuffing nose and dry mouth is the hardest to deal with. I have Entertainers spray and using it frequently, but my tongue is sticking to everything.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and I’ll update everyone once the pathology is back. He did say it didn’t look like Weg’s to the eye.

I'm glad it's all done and hopefully it was just the cyst causing the troubles and not Wegs.

Don't you just hate it when they don't listen to you about the IV. It seems it doesn't matter how many times you try to tell them before hand, they always tell you that it's okay, we know what we are doing and it wont be any trouble......bahaha yeah right.

Take care and we look forward to a terrific pathology report.
