Jack had a brilliant sense of humor. I remember when I first joined here being uplifted by his straight talking in relation to dealing with WG. He was so direct with his descriptions of the effects of the illness and how to deal with it. One thing is for sure. He was a true gentleman.

I was also thinking I wish I had some of the emails I got from Jack. I also remember the supportive encouragement and positive feelings from reading his emails and posts. I told him once I wish it were possible to meet him in person. In his usual humility he said I would probably be very disappointed since he didn't consider himself very good in conversations and first meetings but he always came across in a positive manner on the internet even when he had strong negative feelings about something. His wisdom, compassion, ability to offer encouragement even when he was struggling himself, and general sense of humor made me consider him a first class icon of the best of an English Gentleman. RIP Jack and thanks for all you did for us.

Sam and Drz - Love what you both said - so very true. It's funny, he didn't say lots and lots, but what he did say was usually succinct and to the point, touched with his dry humour He really 'got ' to us all though didn't he. Thanks Jack.
I like this quote because it is how I feel. I cant even imagine how akward I would feel meeting someone with wegeners. They would have to have something in common with me to discuss because I could not disscuss Wegeners for any length of time
"There is a Vasculitis support group run by my hospital, but I've never attended because I've never felt the need. Am I antisocial? I'm not sure that I want to chat about illness for an hour, I'd prefer to talk about cars." Jack

Jack told me the same thing. He said he wasn't real good at small talk but said if you wanted to discuss cars he could talk for hours. I think Vdub had such interchanges with Jack since Jack moderated the MG support forum and Vdub had a classic MG that he is thinking of restoring. I wonder if that MG forum misses him as much as we do.
I would rather talk about cars too.

For someone who didnt like to talk about Wegs he sure had a lot to say! Bless you Jack.
Looking through one of my old posts i came across 2 posts from Jack that steered me onto the right path - that which took me away from my local ENT, Rheumy and Chest consultant and onwards to the specialists at Adds. Just thought i'd share them with you.
I've also noticed my posts back then were far more bright and optimistic, maybe a year and a half of smouldering and on the drugs has taken its toll on my sense of humour! If this be true then the Pred has commited the worst possible crime!
"I believe that I have seen a negative attitude kill people, but I don't think that a positive one will cure you. However, I know that it Helps". Jack
LOL "Where are you finding these people?" Classic Jack.
I see changes in the tone of my posts, too Sam. This forum is actually a good way to check in with things like that.
