[QUOTE=tomntexas;34152]I am in San Antoinio. Who is treating your Wegeners? My Oncologist/Hemotologist is basically administering the chemo drug and acting as the lead doctor in my treatment. I also have a kidney specialist, an infectious disease specialist, and a pulminary specialist on board that she consults with.

Tom, its my daughter that has Wegener's, and she lives in Austin. We have been frustrated by the lack of experienced professionals/or docs willing to contact and work with the Vasculitis Foundation experts locally. That said, her primary local physician is a rheumatologist. We take my daughter to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and she sees Ulrich Specks (one of the VF specialists). Its a hike to get up there, but it has been a life saver for her.

It is important to find someone with experience in treating Wegener's, because if docs use the "Standard" protocol on a Weggie, they simply don't always respond in a standard way....keep reading, and you'll get the idea. Its a very complicated disease.

Please keep us posted regarding your progress...and ask questions!
