Alysia, that is a beautiful statement and poem. You are lucky to be able to see up close the beautiful person Phil is and he is lucky to have you there to help him get through his difficulties now. Yes, I'm praying for good test results and something that will help his breathing. It is heartbreaking to hear about his condition from a first hand witness. And thank you for keeping us informed. Prayers go out to both of you.

Alysia and I are now in Banff.

Saw lung doc yesterday. Chest x-ray was worse from last visit in April. WCC was 13. 5 and CRP was 36. Based on my increased SOB and general malaise and fatigue and more green mucus coming up and harder to cough it up we decided to do a 10 day course of Clavulin. He was not pushing pred, he said he would leave that up to me. So I decided not to go on the pred for those 10 days. Hopefully I will feel better after this course.

I asked him about a CPAP machine and he advised against it for my condition. He thought maybe a PEP valve might be more useful. He also said home oxygen is worth trying. So I will go see my family doc about setting that up. We had a good visit with him for just over 90 minutes. I will come back to see him next month as well.

The Respiratory Therapist is very nice. She taught me how to do autogenic breathing and says she believes this will get more mucus out for me each day. I will give it a try for sure. She said if I was close by she would have me come weekly to see her for the first few months. She has more to teach me as well. So, I decided to go back tomorrow to see her for a 2 hour session. And then will see her again at least once next month.

Alysia really loves the mountains. I will show her around the Banff Springs Fairmont Hotel and around Lake Louise and Chateau Lake Louise. Then we will go to Lake Minnewanka too.

On Friday we go to Canmore to spend a couple nights then back to Swift Current. I have an appointment with my audiologist on Tuesday so Alysia will drive me up there as well. So far she is doing all the driving.

That all sounds good, Phil, except for the worse chest xray, but you are getting some new ideas about handling this and have a good respiratory therapist. That's great.

I like thinking of Alysia seeing the mountains and breathing the fresh mountain air. I like thinking of her driving in Canada, too.... I trust there is no difference in what side of the road you drive on in Israel?

She says the roads are much better here and they drive on the same side of the road in Israel.

I'm happy you are getting good care Phil! Please be careful from the mosquitoes in lake Louise. Was there a few yrs ago and of all of the Rocky Mountains that was the worst place for mosquitoes. Did you guys also go to Whistler?

I know something besides the mountains that Alysia really loves.... Superheroes!

i didnt realize your lung xray was worse. I hope this ten day course of antibiotic helps improve things. I know having Alysia here is going to heal you from the inside out... So glad you two are relaxing in the beautiful mountains. Will you try the hot springs? It's nice and relaxing but also a lot of people and germs in close quarters. Not sure whether it's worth the risk...

Let me know how today's appointment goes. I have my thinking cap on. I'd love to see you able to move to Calgary and have access to these specialists whenever you need them but also support/care at home. Or Israel. Once things quiet down there. Either would be good.

Joyce, Whistler is in BC (where I live) near Vancouver. It's a full day drive from Calgary (10-12 hours) or a one hour flight. Canada is HUGE. each of the ten provinces is bigger than the whole country of Israel. Most people don't know this because the media makes it appear as though Israel is much larger than it is by showing only a sliver of each massive Arab country on its borders. But no politics here lol. Alysia and Phil are welcome if they want to come see BC while Alysia is here, hint hint! I'm heading back to Vancouver on Monday.
