Thanks Lisa Marie. Hopefully I can talk to my doc about this soon.

I saw a gastro doctor last week about GERD. He said GERD often forms scar tissue in throat from acid damage which can cause trouble with swallowing. He said he can scope my throat and check for any strictures. He also said they can stretch them out to dilate any such narrowing which he said would be relatively easy and safe procedure for me. I plan to run this by doctors at Mayo first before I do anything. Don't know if this might also work for other narrowing that affects breathing.

Hey Phil, you really explained Cochlea very good. Better then our doctor. We have been confused about it. You made it a lot more easier to understand.
Glad you are hearing again, but it has been hard for us to know if we should do this or not. Dean can't hear in one ear at all and the other one he can hear a little with a hearing aid. He still has a very hard time hearing. What we understand is once you put the Cochlea in you can't take it back out. Your hearing has to be at a certain level before the will even do it.

Hi Barb and Dean:
I would push for a total workup for cochlear implants. Unfortunately most state and inusurance plans only pay for one implant. I was very fortunate to get both sides done.

Hi Phil,
How bad was your hearing when you had this done? You were lucky to get two. We hate to keep asking you question's when you are still not feeling good. Don't feel like you have to answer this right away. We can wait. We are Praying to you.

I also just found out that Dr. Merkel is moving to Philly.
