Update on pberggren

I just realized I am in quite a predicament. I am on 60mg of Pred and just got my taste and smell back a bit. The fridge and cupboards will be empty in no time.

Cover the scale cause it might get bad.

I had to have my hearing aids adjusted a couple times after hearing loss from the Wegener's. The digital ones requiire some computer assistance to adjust once they check you current hearing loss but they can fine tune them to match your hearing loss and it made it big difference. I still have much fluctuation depending on how blocked or open my Eustachian tube seems to be and don't know of any fix for that.

Find crunchie bars...it a honey comb covered in chocolate.and has protien in it ...ask Jack...they aregreat congrats on getting some of your senses back

Sounds like your prednisone is helping with the inflammation in your ear,nose and sinuses. What kind of ear drops?

The ear drops are called Ciprofloxacin/Dexamethasone.

Saw my Wegs doc today:

My ESR and CRP and way down to 17 and 21 but my WCC is still up around 16. He said if the WCC gets to around 10 then we may have to reduce the ctx, I am on 125mg right now and weigh approx. 70kg.

He also said to make sure to watch out for any signs of infection while on ctx and to let him know immediately if I notice any signs of infection.

There was some trace amounts of protein and blood in my last urine sample so he is going to book an ultra sound of my kidneys to make sure there are no growths on them or anything else. I also had urine cultures and cytology today as well.

I see him again on Friday to discuss more results as well as the Surgeon, Dr. Ghori. I am seeing Dr. Ghori because of possible hemmoroids. I have had some blood in my stools in the past, not much but sometimes it drips out and is quite visible in the toilet. And most of the time even when I do not see any blood in toilet or on stools when I wipe I get some blood as well. Dr. Ghori's speciality is Cholo/Rectal Surgery, so he should be able to clarify things a bit more in that area.

He also said it may be possible to taper faster on the pred from 60 to 20 but said we will just wait and see what the ESR and CRP do and how you feel overall in the next 2 weeks. He said 5mg per week is safe and will stick to that for now, but when it comes time to taper in 2 weeks if things are looking good then I can taper a bit faster, like maybe 10mg per week.

That is all I can remember for now.
