Smile Off Preds Starting Taper of Immuran

Got off of the Preds the first of Jan. and everything is going good so far. My Pulmonoligist has been watching me very close and doing blood work every month and has started to taper me off of the Immuran. I was on 150mg pre day and now I am down to 100mg. My Sed rate was 12 on my last blood work.
I would have posed a lot sooner but 2 days after stepping down on the Immuran I started to run a low grade of fever so I called my pulmy and went in for a check and my lungs where clear and my sinuses were also and he did blood work to check my blood cell count which was good too. He gave me a script of levaquin 750mg and told me if it kept up to take the levaquin. Well I waited a couple of days before I started on the antibiotic. It took over a week and a lot of rest before I got over the chills and fever. I couldn't stand the smell are the taste of food. Great way to lose weight because I lost 6 lbs. in a week. I'm not sure what I had either some sort of flu are I had gotten a pneumonia shot about 5 days before I got the chills are possibly all of the pollen that is falling in South Louisiana. All is a lot better now though and seems to be going good.
Hopefully if it all holds up and my doc will be able to lower the Immuran another 50mg the first of May.

That's awsome. I hope you can get off of the Imuran totally and be symptom free.

Good for you to hold off on the Levaquin, too - in my opinion, Dumpy

Congratulations Dumpy, agree with Levaquin, good broad spectrum but can cause muscle weakness and should never be first line of defense. It is popular because you can do 750mg once a day for five days with same efficacy of 3 times a day for ten days with the pencillins and cephalosphorins which increase compliance as people don't miss doses and let the bad bugs take over before they die.

Thank You All Very Much. It really is good getting off some of the meds but I will always be looking over my shoulders.
You know it was really was nice to get off of the Preds but in some ways it seems they will always punish you for having known them. My Doc told me that I would have some ackes (sp) and pains that I hadn't felt before and he was surely right but I will take being off of Preds any day.
