    Default Cryotherapy

    Has anyone in the Wegeners group tried cryotherapy to reduce body inflammation?
    There are a lot of cryotherapy studios/spas popping up and I was wondering how effective it is.
    Or even what your doctor has said about it, if you have consulted them about it.
    Any feedback on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

    Hmmm, wandering around looking for things....nope, didn't find cryotherapy...part of having WG is looking for things that aren't there...we want to feel better, we don't, we try...stick to the docs and their findings...it works better...

    From what I’ve heard of cryotherapy, it seems a bit like the kinetic tape craze from a few years ago, but with more danger of injury. It probably will decrease inflammation temporarily, but it won’t affect the underlying causes in significant any way. Think of it this way; if your sanctioned treatments are working, there shouldn’t be any inflammation. If you do have inflammation, your first stop should be your specialist.

    IMO I wouldn’t try any “alternative” therapy without thorough consultation. Be wary of claims such as “may help” or “has been shown to.” Those are weasel words created by marketers to portray something which doesn’t really do anything (just look at the thousands of “immune boosters” on the market.)

    On the other hand, if your specialist says something like “it couldn’t hurt,” in the end it’s your own time and money, and you may get psychological benefit.

    Life lessons for all of us;

    Never eat at a place called Ma’s.
    Never shoot pool with a guy called Pop.
    Never try to eat anything bigger than your head.

    Nope, never considered cryotherapy but I did go on a drastic diet change to help with body pain from inflammation. It was a self-modified keto diet; I cut out sugar (including wine and beer), bread products, rice, pasta, red meat. Pretty much ate most vegetables and fruits, beans, chicken, fish, nuts, greek yogurt and a lot of water. It took about 3 weeks but did seem to help me. I still have joint pain and am trying to keep exercising within a new limit and stretching which helps. I'm slowly adding some of the foods for variety and pleasure but do notice a change in pain level; but it's worth it at times!
    I hope you find something that helps.
