Default If anyone has had saddle nose surgery, what is recovery like?

I am thinking of getting the saddle nose surgery and I know they will have to use rib cartilage to reconstruct my bridge. I have reservations although I really want to do it. If anyone has had this done, can you tell me what recovery is like? Is 2 weeks enough time to return to work or more? Is the pain unbearable? Did you like the outcome of your nose?

Haven't got it yet Scotgirl...but definitely interested in other people's experiences. As it only affects me cosmetically, I have been getting restylane fillers to approve the appearance. If it was that I could not breathe properly, then I would definitely get the surgery. Heard it is painful. I think it is more painful in the area of the ribs than the nose. There was a girl on here, Samantha who got the surgery, and I think she was very happy with the results. I don't know if she is that active on the board now. Maybe you could search old posts. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I had it 2 months ago. The rib pain was much more than I expected. The first week was quite painful to move. I was on pain meds around the clock. I was off from work for 10 days. After a couple weeks I was back to normal. I'm happy with my new nose. I lived with my saddle nose for 5 years. It did bother me as much as tried to not let it. My doctors all wanted me to be in remission and on low levels of pred. and mtx before having the surgery. Best wishes

Thanks, Tommy. What levels of pred and MTX were you on? And did your insurance pay for any of it? I'm glad you are happy with the results.

I was on pred. 7mg and mtx 12.5mg. Fortunately, my insurance covered the cost of the 5 hour surgery. Best wishes all

Thanks, I'm on just a little more pred and MTX than that. But I have doubts that my Medicare will cover any of it, since I can breathe fine through my nose. I'm glad your insurance did.
