    Default Hello, WG....

    Hi everyone,

My name is Milan and i am from Serbia. I have couple of questions about WG disease.
I have WG. Disease was diagnosticed before 6 months. Because of WG I get trachea stenosis and my doctor sugested me that I have to go on surgery called trachea resection and end to end anastomosis. Because of stenosis doctor needs to resect 3 rings of trachea. Now, I have canulla for easy breathing. Could you please give me more information about this surgery and do you have any experience wit that?

    Sorry for bad English.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards.

    Hello Methju,

Your surgeon's plan sounds very drastic. Most people on here who have tracheal stenosis undergo a procedure called tracheal dilation - a stretching of the trachea to reopen it. The procedure your surgeon is planning is to cut out part of your trachea and stretch the two remaining ends together. You may want to have further discussion with your surgeon about longer-term outcomes of his plan versus having to repeat the dilation procedure.

    Good luck!!

    Hello Pete,

Thanks for your reply. I was on tracheal dilation surgery but unfotunatelly rings of trachea are too damaged and surgery was not successfuly. Do you know for any other solution in case that end to end anastomosis surgery fails? Or you maybe have recommendation for clinics or doctors in Europe who are specialist for trachea and good in that area of medicine... I really dont want to have canula for rest of my life

    Best regards.

Milan, I have no knowledge of other treatments for tracheal stenosis. Perhaps other forum members will post about this.

Welcome to the forum, Milan! I don't remember hearing of anyone here from Serbia before. I'm sorry I can't help with the stenosis, as I don't have it. But there are several here who do. If they don't notice you within a few days, you might want to start a thread with Tracheal Stenosis in the title. Also, you can use the Search function to find old posts and threads about this or any other aspect of having WG. And don't worry about your English, it is good enough!
