Default Wegener's involvemnet in the breast

So they found a lump in my breast. It does not have any of the characteristics of cancer. I see surgeon in 2 weeks. I remember Dr. Langford ( from the Cleveland clinic) telling me about a year ago that there have been a few cases of Wegener's with breast involvement. I had asked her about this because I was having some pain in the same breast, in the same spot they found lump, last year. I'm currently in remission. Had a relapse last Sept. Has anyone had any similar experiences or information about this?
    Thanks so much

    Hi Tracy,

I don't have any information about it other than it can also present as granuloma's in the breast. Google shows that it is rare but a few cases have been reported.

I had a couple of core biopsy's on some breast lumps a week before I became very sick, with what we now know as WG.
I wish I knew back then about WG and granulomas so that I could have asked the specialist to look at the biopsy results for something other than 'C'.

My results were shown as Non Cancerous, possible fibrous and glandular tissue. I just took it as gospel that it wasn't cancer and never knew that it could be anything else.
If anymore are found, I will definitely get them to check,

It will be excellent if your surgeon can check out the possibility of it being a granuloma.

    Best of wishes to you
    Keep Smiling
    Michelle

This is really unusual, Tracy... When you find out something, could you report back on this same thread? It might help someone else in the future. Thanks, vw

I am still in the dark as to what a granuloma even looks like. I will be very interested in hearing what they find out about this lump. I'm glad it isn't cancer, and that you've been doing well overall with your remission, since the flare in Sept.

Just wanted to update everyone. By the time I got an ultrasound the pain had disappeared and the ultrasound looked normal. But from what I told the doctor she thinks I may have granulomatosis mastitis which is a secondary complication of Wegener's . I need to return when symptoms reappear. I'm sure they will come back lol. I had pain/issues with the left breast 2 times now. Both lasted 2 months. So I will keep everyone posted if/when they find someone for sure. THanks!
