    Default Good news, Anemia gone

I couldn't believe it when I brought my mom to get her 2 shots per month Epogen and she didn't need it!
Her nephrologist told us she would have to be on Epogen the rest of her life, but her hemoglobin was 11.4 and everything else was in the normal range.
She has been severely anemic since dx in June.
She has been on the Mofetil and just started acupuncture.

I sure hope she is going into remission!

I sure hope it continues, too, Blake! What a nice Christmas present if your mom is finally going into remission.

I was thinking the same thing, Anne!
She said today that this is the first time she has felt this good since last year.
It sure looks like the mofetil and/or Rtx is working.
I know mofetil alone can induce remission for MPA, but also, that Rtx works very, very slowly sometimes.
However, I know of no one that has MPA that was treated with Rtx.
It has been 6 months since first Rtx infusion and almost gave up due to the intolerance she keeps having with the mofetil.
I really think the rtx is still working in her and the mofetil maybe suppressing too much at certain times causing the intolerance.

Anne, I hope you had the best Christmas and have the best new years for years to come.

Last night I asked my mom how she was feeling because she was actually getting up off the couch and getting things for the first time in a year and she said she felt better than she has since last year.

    Update:
My mom's hemoglobin was 11.2 down from 11.4 two weeks ago, so it looks like the lower mofetil dose is not working as well.
I am going to try upping her dose again to 1gm per day and see she can handle it again.
