Default Saved my neighbours life this weekend

He had a heart attack in his driveway and I had to do cpr on him. Just found out this evening that he is alive and will be home this weekend.

Be joyous, you helped save a fellow human being, well done, be proud and happy. We have little enough in our lives sometimes to be proud and happy about.

Thank you Leigh - you are awesome

Terry is right, you should be proud of what you have done.
Not only have you helped your neighbour but also saved his family from all sorts of new issues, stresses and grief, if the worst had happened.

I don't even know these people but I say - Thank you

there is a ton of stuff they DONT teach you in a first aid course.

    1. if you ever use it it will probably be on someone you know or love. This completely negates the belief that most of us have that we cant/wont do it. To see him lying there and to see/hear his wife loosing her love totally took over my doubts and I went in to auto-pilot.
    2. after you do it and you google cpr you will find out that only 2% of people that needed cpr out of a hospital setting survive. That is horrible to read. It messes with your mind.
    3. you will not be able to sleep afterwards if you do know the person. when you do sleep you dream of the incident.
    4. your abs will hurt like hell
    5. If they do survive it is quite an awesome feeling although the anticipation of seeing him after I kissed him lol is a bit disturbing...he is not my type.

You did an excellent job with a good outcome.
    Thanks for sharing.
Since the result is so good, you probably will not have PTSS-like symptoms or bad dreams.
Very good you did your story here, I think.

I am no longer having bad dreams. It happened on Sunday and we heard nothing until last night I got one of my employees who's dad works with him to find out what he knew. He is the one who told me my neighbour was ok. His wife has not yet told us anything. I don't want to bug her so we have not gone over to ask her. I guess until I see him I will be worried. I had three stressful days but yes now that I have heard through the grapevine he is okay most of the bad has gone away.

What an awesome thing you did, even if it turned out he didn't make it ,you did your best and not just stood there and looked on. I wish I had neighbors like you, but I live next to a small, old cemetary so that would be creepy !!!!!!
