I really enjoy staying at Whitby. It was the town that inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula and the last time we went they had the Goth Festival so there were some very interesting sights!

The local Disablement Action Group hire scooters for a reasonable charge which can be very helpful on the hilly streets.

read recently that they dont know if they are going to carry on goth weekend as the local people dont give it enough support which would be a shame !
we usually stay at an hotel just near the bottom of the street were the steps go upto whitby abbey think about two hundred use to nearly kill me off before i dxt with wg probably take a few days now to get to the top
first full day out with hubby spent at Robin Hoods Bay eating fresh crab on the beach
thanks for information about the scooter Jack as we intend to visit whitby sooner or later

I have a pile of JBs here without heads I can send you? I started a new way of eating them recently - bite all the heads off, then the feet and keep the bodies till last.

I blame it on the preds - other may feel that the blow to the head with the rolling pin my wife handles so well is responsible

mmmm think I'll pass on those jellybabies Hammy - can I have dolly mixtures instead ( the old fashioned sort) ?

Jack: That's really good info about the scooters - would have saved me puffing and blowing like a steam train because I wouldn't let my husband push me in wheelchair up those streets Thanks. Hope you have enjoyed the Belgium GP this weekend - eventful wasn't it !.

So is Robin Hood actually real as in the movies around King Richards and King Johns times during the Crusades?

No, he's a mythological character promoted by the tourist and media industries, but not supported by historical fact. He was first mentioned in the 15th century, so there might be a fragment of truth in there somewhere.

I still like the movies though. Isn't there a new one now with Russel Crowe?
