I saw this article on MSNBC.com today, about the danger of lung infection from dirty showerheads. It's a big deal for those of us who are immune-suppressed.

First it was "Psycho", now it's this! +1
I think I've seen this stuff, if not where I live now. Urp! Wasn't there a film about it in the 1950's?
ewwwwwwwww gross. well i guess im heading off to buy an all metal shower head now. more money. lol. THANKS MSNBC. lol
Georgia In Ohio... On a Mission for Remission!
Yet another houshold threat which I think I will be ignoring. I wonder how many confirmed cases of disease have been linked to this problem? Probably very few, if any.
Oddly enough, I took my shower head apart last week to try a different spray pattern and it appeared to be clean inside.
Well, it was good motivation for me to replace the existing showerhead that's looked nasty since I moved in a year ago.
I think it's more prevalent than you might think, Jack. Probably not just limited to the mycobacterium, either. Years ago I noticed that if I swallowed water in my shower, I got an URI within a day. And those kitchen faucet water purifier things have long been known to accumulate bacteria.
I think the current state of my health stands testament to my hygene standards!
(I've been feeling like crap for weeks now with one thing after another - I wish it would give me a break for a few days )
I hear ya on both counts. I mean, it took me a year to replace that showerhead, even though I already had another one....
I can join you in the "feel like crap" pile the last several weeks. That's exactly the exact phrase I've been using lately! I wish I could get on the rituximab already. This ctx and pred gig ain't working. Aaargh.
That's the trouble with you sick people, you just need a kick in the butt now and then to get you moving.
