I have had a rash on my hands and arms the past week or so. It comes and goes. Now I see tonight that it is tiny red dots like Nikki describes. I think I might go for labs tomorrow....

Those dots are like the one time I did have a Vasculitis Rash, though I got something that itched like hives as well in addition to the rash.

Most of the spots are on my abdomen. I have a few on my bicep area. The dermatologist said they are a form of freckle. Except, they are BRIGHT red and like someone took a pin and poked me a bunch of times. The ones on my stomach are bigger than the ones on the underside of my bicep.
    Still watching.
I haven't talked to my doc about them because, I am trying to take care of her last request which is talking to my boss and telling the boss that the doc wants me on dayshift. I need to know what documentation they need to make that happen.
My stomach is in knots from that.
My eyes have been burning the last couple days, and I started to feel off last night. My throat was phlegmy this morning and what I coughed up was yellow/green. I hope I'm not getting sick.
Hubby's apprentice went home with the flu the other day. Great. I've been avoiding hubby LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Nikki, I get these on my forearms when I'm a little run down. They are Wegs related. They usually disappear after a few days. I don't consider them a flare, but a warning to take it easy, eat right, get enough sleep, etc, and don't try to taper pred too fast. There are so few of them that I don't worry, but if there were a lot more and they kept coming and coming, as in your case, I'd start worrying. Maybe get bloods done and see what the numbers say. I do hear that people get these on various parts of their bodies, and it sure sounds like a Wegs rash. There's also the possibility that it is something else.... I'll be interested to hear more about what happens with these.

I would add that I doubt the dermatologist knows anything about Wegs. Your WG doc should be familiar with Wegs rash in all its variations, or be able to find out more from specialists. I hope and pray you are neither flaring nor getting the flu!

Also, I've noticed the dots take longer to go away on more tender areas of skin. I may have a very few on my breast that don't go away. And yes, they are bright red. I figure your abdomen and underside of your biceps would be more tender skin than, for example, the tops of the forearms, and would take longer to go away. But that doesn't explain that they keep increasing.

I remember when I went to the e.r becauce I had had a terrible case of a vasculitisis rash on by legs. I googled it and I looked just like the picture...this were purple dots all over my legs. The e.r. doc said I had poison ivy.I told him to go google it but he didn't. Gave me a script which I threw away...so by point is like what Anne said...don't take the word of your derm. if he doesn't know wg. God, I hope you are not getting the flu now. If you still have those sick days maybe you should use some while all this grud is going around....Take care

Yes, I had them when Wegners was active but not a huge number. I still get one or two on hands and legs. It looks like bleeding under the skin but doesn't turn into a bruise and I know I didn't injure myself where they are. I showed nephrologist and he just wanted me to monitor them and let him know if I had more. He acted as though it was a normal condition and I didn't ask more. It appears you have a lot and should have your doctor check them but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Nikki, Anne and Debra are so right, if he is not a wegs specialist, don't listen. I have two different "rashes", wegs one and "old age" one. Wegs is usually on my lower legs, and looks red/purplish, like getting your finger stuck in a door and the blood swells. The other are red pin point raised bumps. In couple of weeks they turn dark brown and become just one in a series of age spots. They are all over my body. What you have is most likely a wegs rash which many have had. I would explain to your dermatologist that he needs to brush up on his wegs because he will have to have good knowledge of what are the symptoms of wegs to prescribe the correct medicine. Without good knowledge he can do more harm than good.
