    Default Only metal

When our daughter had a torn meniscus in her knee, surgery was done. Within a short period of time what was done was destroyed. Another surgery was done, the doctor was sure it would work this time. Shortly what they did was gone. I have lost track of how many times her knee was operated on. Finally she was referred to another doctor, as her first one admitted he had given up. He just could not believe the CT, he had never see anything like the damage her body had done to his expert surgery! The new doctor discovered by that time she didn't have a knee any more, even though she was still climbing stairs with a cane (in great pain though). He used the word 'jello' to describe it. He did a total knee, titanium joint with metal inside upper and lower bone. So far since 2011 it has seemed OK. However, it has always hurt, and now it beginning to have a lot of pain, so that will be one more thing to get checked.

Metal seems to be the answer for her in healing. She has a metal plate in wrist break, hand break, and I think arm (lost track!). These have done well. Anyone have similar experiences?

    Lilly, stop touching things.
Didn't your mother ever tell you that if you touch it, it will break

I'm so sorry that you have gone through all of these breaks and all of these surgeries.
    How complex our bodies are.
At least the titanium and metal are working........you are the bionic woman (six million dollar woman)

I can't say that I know of anyone that has gone through this before

Yall are really sweet......I guess it would seem weird to people when it hasn't happened to you in the same way. I truly just kind of try to be careful and hope my clumsiness doesnt turn into a break or fracture! lol I even did something really crazy one time. I cant even believe I did this! I was getting out of the back of my Jeep Wrangler, and I stepped out the back, the top was not on, and when I got my leg over, it slipped and my thigh got sliced open on the licence plate! All the way to the muscle!! It was so crazy, but everyone else was freaking out more than me, so I couldnt help but laugh! I had 5 stitches inside my leg, then 22 to close up the outside. I am slowing down a bit now. I have been in the hospital for too many other things and I just need to concentrate on taking good care of myself. But I have been called the Bionic woman Michelle!! lol I wish! If I was the bionic woman, I would be so strong!!! Thank yall for listening~

    same for me
it is like living in 2 worlds: the "daily" one in which I have to function and be strong and take care of family, house, work, friends etc.
and my weggie world, in which I can be with my "true self", with my needs and fears and fragility. because I know you understand.
it means to live in the deepest sense. the one of being.
thank you my weggie family for being with me. I love you all

Here, in this forum, I have found my sweet eternal love, my beautiful Phil.. :

"You are my sunshine", he used to sing to me... "you make me happy, when skies are grey" I still answer him.
Rest in Peace, my brave Batman and take care of your weggies from heaven, until we meet again.
