    Default dog lovers everywhere

Hi all you dog lovers, I like to try my hand at the odd poem and hope this srikes a cord with some of you.

    A CANINES VOW
I will love you without question,
If you feed me without fail.
    I will be forever faithful,
Greet you wildly, wag my tail.
Fetch your Times and fetch your slippers,
Sit down quietly by your feet.
    For as long belovered master,
That you fill my bowl with meat.

I will answer when you call me,
Learn new tricks, and catch a ball.
Chase the cats out of your garden,
Give my life to guard your hall.
    Walk beside you into danger,
Sit and warm your favorite seat.
    For as long beloved master,
That you fill my bowl with meat.

    Mike

I should copy it and post it at the dog pound

    Hi Mike,
    it is beautiful
I must say that dogs are even better, they are so loyal not only if you give them food.
I wonder what poem can be written to cat's lovers, maybe somthing like that:
(sorry if my english is not correct enough for a "poem" )

Even if you feed me without fail
fill my bowl with water and cat's delicacy food
stroke my fur in my chin and behind the ears
give me your best pillows to rest

I will never come to you when you call me
(unless I want something from you)
and dont be surprise if I scratch you suddenly
after sitting on your lap making my deep rrrrr

sorry, I have more important things to do
a lot a fur to take care of
    enough sleep to catch
    and 9 souls to save.

Rest in Peace, my brave Batman and take care of your weggies from heaven, until we meet again.

Debra C, please do it would be nice to have an outlet for my poems, although I don't think many of the dogs would get it.

Hi Alysia, your English is better than mine I think, and I love your poem. I did start one for cats which went,

I am a cat and that is that,
I do not mean to cut you flat, but I'm a cat.
    You humans all must understand,
I never ask but just demand.
    for I'm a cat.

I did not get much further so must dig out my note book and try to finish it.

I wrote many poems for my boys when they left.

    To my hounds in Heaven

To my sweet hounds in heaven, however might you be?
Are you lonely; are you afraid, do you even miss me?
They say that you are both in a better place now, happy and free!
But how can you be in a better place – when I think the best place is with me?

I will miss you both for as long as I live – and that is a promise true
For each and every single day, I am always thinking of both of you
No human children am I to bear; no happy little dancing, running, feet
Instead I raise children of a different kind – with fur, paws and sharp teeth

To lose you both so close together, has made my spirit so low
Why me, please no! What have I done? Why did they have to go?
So now I sit here, wondering how you fare – so solemn and alone
I only hope, and pray, and wish that I could just bring you home

But your home is in the sky now, that much I know for sure
As for two such sweet hounds, heaven is but an open door
But please, if you’re listening to me – as you both used to
Just be sure, that you’re watching over me, as I am looking up at you

    -Carrie Goodfellow

I also made this for Freeman when he passed.

The same here - I was crying when it happened and am crying again now.

Not just for your Freeman and Kowalla - but for the loss of all that have gone before them.

Okay, some more lovely poems are needed
