Default how many weggies is your WG doc treating?

    Hi,
I went to my wg doc yesterday. (great improvement due to rtx but still no remission inflamtory process is still taking place in my nose. waiting for next rtx to help...)
I finally dared to ask him (after almost 5 years) how many weggies is he treating.
he said: "some" (what is his story, can he just say ?)
    so I asked AGAIN: "how many ? 5? 10? 15 ?"
and he said "between 5 to 10".
I already know he is not so experienced but he is the best I can have, and he is also human and available.
I wonder how many weggies is your doc treating ?

HI Alysia, I believe my rheumy has about the same number as yours. I have implicit faith in him - he diagnosed me within minutes of my initial visit and has cared for me for the past 4 years. He finds 'us' interesting and when he goes to rheumy conferences he follows the vasculitis channels rather than the more 'routine' arthritis ones. He knows my interest too as I challenge him periodically, but he never takes offense!

Dr Villa Forte said the Cleveland Clinic sees about 700 weggies.

My old doc had well over 1,000 Weggies and prob over 2,000 Vascis total. My new doc only has seen about 30 Weggies so far.

Hi Alysia, glad to here the rtx is helping, hopefully the next round will do the trick. At least your numbers are coming back good. I don't know why your dr. was being so evasive on telling you how many patients he has with wg unless he didn't want you to know about his experience. But he seems to be doing good with you. Maybe you might be able to see another person in the waiting room. Praying you continue to get better

My doc says she has >20 WG pt's but didn't have an exact number. I feel confident in her treatment plan and she regularly talks with my Nephrologist and Pulmonologist which is encouraging to me. I definitely don't think she is a specialist, but she does her research and told me on my first visit she treated WG's "aggressively."

Why don't you think your doc is a specialist Ruotsi1? Never heard of a GP having that many Weggies and not being a specialist.
