Default Finally found out what was wrong - shingles

It started last Monday small rash on my breast then a lot of pain across my stomach- finally got into my specialist and he diagnosed as shingles. Since then it has spread all the way around my back. I am miserable today - thought Sat. it might be getting better but then the pain and the rash went around to my back. I am not one to complain but this is almost like when I was diagnosed with WEG. Thankfully it is not on my face. I was on Luftunimade to help keep me in remission and the doctor has backed me off of that for 2 weeks. Anyone else had problem with shingles?

Not personally, but one of the girls I worked with had it and she is healthy and she said it was pretty bad. She said once the rash was out and stopped growing she felt better, but it did take a few weeks for her to feel normal again. Hope this fixes up for you soon

I got shingles one month after my first round of rtx infusions. It is very painfull and about drives you crazy. Did your doc give you the anti-viral medication? I did find some relief soaking in an oatmeal bath and keeping a cold wet towel on the areas, mine was on my back, breast, and under the arms coming to the front along the ribs. It will follow the nerve pathes. I also had to take neurotin for awhile. There are some homeopathic gels that might help. I hope you lose those shingles soon, they are not fun to have. Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery.

I have had a shingles outbreak twice since starting treatment October 2011. Yes, it can be very painful and annoying. One of mine had a rash on my outer thigh and the other one started from a fall in which I bumped my head. This one had no rash and was on the right side of my face. My face felt like a pin cusion.

If you get the anti-viral meds started quickly it's a huge help. I hope you feel better soon.

If you can get to a chiropractor an adjustment will often help. The earlier you go the better. Shingles outbreaks are often the result of a vertebral misalignment and/or a rib misalignment. The virus is dormant in the central nervous system. If the nerves exiting the CNS have interference the virus can become active. We often see a rib misalignment first, particularly when shingles begins in the rib area. The intercostal nerves run between each rib and branch directly off the spinal cord. A chiropractic adjustment relieves the interference with the nerves.
