    Default tests and diagnosis

    Hi all

I am in the process of being diagnosed with tracheal stenosis, have a lung function test and ct scan on Tuesday (docs didn't want to do a bronchoscopy).

I have had the symptoms coming on for a few years now. I am in remission with the disease and will be off pred in 3 weeks.

Last few days has been bad. Been coughing none stop and have a sensitive throat now. Feel clogged up, like I can't breathe and its affectting my voice.
Is there anything I can do to alleviate my symptoms?
Mighti've just been my imagination but hot foods o drinks used to help but not over the last few days.

Any advice for me? And what is the treatment like for this? Plus I have saddle nose, whaoo.

I wonder if you have a cold and/or bronchitis. Have you tried any decongestants?

    Hi Pete.

Had a cold a few weeks ago so I don't think so. Have had decongestants but don't wanna take too many.

What are the symptoms on bronchitis?

Bronchitis symptoms were an ongoing unproductive cough. Was treated with antibiotic and cough suppressant (tessalon perles).

Why no bronch? That makes no sense to me. Or even a laryngoscopy.

I've no idea Phil, was Dr Jayne who said that and ordered the other tests.

Sam, I'm a bit concerned this could be happening to me, too. Though it's possible it's not. But I will be mentioning my concern at my upcoming appt. and will be awaiting news of what is happening with you. I have saddle nose, too, and have always had the problem of coughing stuff up that dripped down from my sinuses. But I'm wondering if lately it's been getting a bit harder to cough stuff up... possibly due to a narrowed trachea? I've had a laryngoscopy a couple times, and all was clear, but that was before my Wegs dx. Actually know nothing about all this but what I've read on the forum... docs have not discussed it with me at all.

Good luck, and I hope it turns out not to be true!

My more serious area ended up being my bronchial tubes, but it took them quite a while to figure that out. I did have some TS as well, but not serious enough to treat. The scope to the trachea is uncomfortable, but not horrendous by any means. Just left the back of my nasal passage where it enters the throat sore from friction.

If they don't find any issues in the trachea I'd imagine the bronch will be the next test.
