Yeah, we're dangling like your "trach jewelry." (It still makes me giggle that you took something so difficult and made it fun.)

Hopefully she's out celebrating being trach-less

    Hello everyone!

I am so sorry to make you worry! I had the best week of my life this week. Other than the surgery I had on Monday, the rest of the week was awesome! (awesome for a weggie). I got my trach out on Tuesday and could not stop smiling or talking after it's removal. My husband tells me I was still babbling at 2 am. (Pred and happiness can make you sleepless)

As of today, My hole is slowly closing. It would close faster if I did not talk as much, but I can't seem to shut up.

Also this week...my youngest daughter graduated high school on Thursday and we had her very successful grad party for her on Sunday. So you see I have been a bit busy getting ready for company and telling everyone about my new normalcy. (this normalcy I like) By Fall I will be an empty nester withe the exception of my 3 dogs of course.

Of course I use my chatting as a chance to educate people on Wegs and remind them that just because I got my trach out that I am not necessarily in the clear. But for now, I CELEBRATE!

BTW-I met someone at my grad party , who knows someone who was recently diagnosed with WEGS and he is about age 30 and lives here in MN. I gave this someone my cell # and told her to have him call me and I hope to set him up with this website as it has done wonders for me (mentally)
It sounds like his problems are in the respitory tract as well and his lungs are a concern. So I hope to hear from him soon!

Any advice would be welcome to get him on the right track right away. As of now she did not know where he was diagnosed or if by a Wegs specialist or not, so I really hope he calls.

So glad to be back with all of you Friends! I hope not to dosappear for that length of time again.

    Still smiling and chatting

I am SO happy it went well! Who needs that extra hole in the head, anyway? I can only imagine how chatty that would make you.

Great big smile on my face, too.

Me too, Lisa. Reading about rkm001's mom this morning put me in a pensive mood, to be sure. She isn't that old. While the bad news of one doesn't cancel out the good news of another (or vice versa), thank God, losing your life vs. losing your trach aren't equivalents. On the other hand, nine in ten of us survive, and I am happy you are among the nine! You've become a friend and part of the vitality I love about this site! Your story has been the only happy news today! Congratulations and may you continue to heal and return to an even better "new normal" than you have just begun! In the meantime, chat away!

Great news that it went so well! I too wouldn't shut up when I got my trach out. I think the nurses sedated me to shut me up
