    Default Shingles vacine

Copied this from another link contained in the message. I wanted to get it years ago but have allergy to neomyicin so couldn't get it. It is much more frequent than most people realize and risk increases as you get older.

    A Painful Debilitating Illness

Shingles is an old fashioned name for a painful debilitating illness. In the short term, shingles is painful and can be disfiguring. It often attacks the face and eyes. About one in five people with shingles will suffer long term nerve damage which can cause excruciating and unrelenting pain for months and even years. Treatment options are limited for this condition. Learn more about Shingles and Complications.

One Out of Three Americans Will Have Shingles
The risk of getting shingles is much greater than is generally realized. One out of three Americans will have shingles at some time in their lives. There are an estimated 1 million cases each year in the United States. For people who live to be 85, the lifetime risk of getting shingles is 50%. The risk increases with age. Learn more about the Risk of Shingles.
    The Value of Shingles Vaccination
Fortunately, there is a vaccine available for shingles. This website provides information about theShingles Vaccine which is currently approved for people over 50 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Shingles vaccination is costly (usually $200-$300), and insurance coverage isn’t as available as it is for many vaccines. The shingles vaccine isn’t 100% effective, but it significantly decreases the risk of getting shingles and reduces the pain and complications for cases which still occur. As you read the quotes and view the Videos on this website, consider how you would cope with an extended period of pain and suffering without being able to work or drive. The shingles vaccine significantly reduces this risk.

I would be interested to know:
Can you be immune to shingles? I mean, when you 've had it once, can you get it a second time?

Is this 'shingle-vaccin' okay to take for Weggies? I mean is the benefit from it greater then the risk?

Maybe the answer is already given in the link you sent, drz.
In that case I appologize. I don't have time to read the entire article right now.

The shingles vaccine is a live vaccine, therefore it is NOT an option for people who are immune-compromised.

My opinion is that NO vaccine is an option.

Well Phil I agree with you about that when it comes to taking vaccines myself.

I do want to be clear though that no doctor should be telling anyone with Wegs to get the shingles vaccine since it's a live vaccine. That is very different from personal opinions about vaccines.

I was off the mtx for a while a year ago and took the opportunity to get my shingles shot. I had all the docs approvals before proceeding, but it wouldn't be the right thing for everyone.
