Would you be referring to a pulmonary shunt ( a lung condition) ?

Pulmonary shunting is usually more of a condition, although I did find where it is done in children with tetralogy of Fallot. They do pulmonary stents, where they put a stent in the central trachialbronchial tree to keep the airway open. It is usually an outpatient or overnight procedure.

Hmmm, only heard of a shunt in the heart - not familiar with it in the lungs. (I'm not saying that it's not a condition - just never heard of it personally).

While we're on the subject, if you guys have had poor oxygen levels, what are your symptoms? Do you know when you need some extra oxygen?

Do you have a portable O2 meter to check your oxygen levels? My readings are generally in 98-99% level but anything over 95% is generally considered OK. When I was bleeding badly in the lungs it dropped down in 80s which mean trips to ICU and oxygen and breathing machines. When you are fighting for air and your respiration rate is high you probably have low oxygen levels in your blood. Your pulse rate may also increase. A lung function test also helps you learn how much lung capacity you have left if you haven't had one. Depending upon your symptoms these may be repeated every 6-12 months.

Yes, I am familiar with a bronchial stent that is used to open an affected bronchi. Is this what you are referring too? I know of a young man with Weg, that has had that procedure done. Do you have an affected bronchial tube?
