Mike,
This information, along with the info from your thread, has already been passed along to my Dad. He is eager to take all your advice and we are all so thankful for your help! We will tame...
Thank you! He uses the squeeze bottle kit from the drugstore. How much mixture should he use per bottle?
That is awesome!!! Please elaborate! I need details, man. :biggrin1:
I'll work on getting him some Flonase, thanks. Is it safe to put 2-3 packets in the bottle he uses to rinse?
Not. Cancer.
Praise God!
***BIG EXHALE***
Dad's pulmonologist said at his appointment yesterday that he had never assumed a malignancy incorrectly until my Dad became his patient. He also...
Deb, I will be praying so hard for you tonight and throughout the rest of the week! ((( BIG HUGS ))) to my South Carolina friend! Please keep us updated.
If you would, please include my Dad...
He has been on 20mg daily for weeks now. He is at the rheumatologist's office right now. I am hoping she will increase his medications to help his sinuses.
Oh, I am good at being a bulldog, Mike! :biggrin1: Thanks for the support!
The pulmonologist hasn't actually said he wants to go ahead with the surgery. Dad is scheduled for a follow up with him on Wednesday for biopsy results, but of course he is still going to the appt....
He feels good. No new symptoms, just his sinuses running like a faucet. I made him take pictures of a couple different mucous balls his nose gave birth to and then text them to me. I then had...
His first CT was January 24. His PET scan was February 18. Then he was CT'd yesterday, March 5.
As Mike also clarified above, he has taken 3 doses of MTX (4 tablets once weekly).
Thanks, Anne. As I am sure you know, it has been a roller coaster emotionally for all of us and physically for my Dad. Even though the radiologist said Dad's nodule is likely due to inflammation...
All his kidney function labs, including the urinalysis, were normal. We are hopeful that the nodule is WG-related, but we were told by both the rheumatologist and the pulmonologist that WG does not...
Yes, but if it were a malignancy, it wouldn't shrink so quickly, right? He is on prednisone 20mg daily (which I know wouldn't reduce the size of a malignancy) and methotrexate one dose weekly. I...
I went with my Dad for his CT-guided lung biopsy today. The radiology nurse told us that from start to finish it would take about an hour and a half and that after the procedure is finished she...
Hey Debbie. Thank you for asking. Dad is doing okay for the most part. He still has his sinus symptoms, but all of his other symptoms (cough, headaches, scalp sensitivity, eye tearing, etc.) have...
Thank you so much for this helpful information. My Dad's initial symptom of Wegener's back in November was ulcers on his gums. They have since cleared thank goodness, but he was miserable with...
Thank you, Anne. I don't think my Dad's pulmonologist necessarily doubts he has Wegener's, he is just certain the nodule in his lung is not Wegener's-related. Maybe a little too certain? By that,...
Mike, I just wanted to update you—my Dad started doing the squeeze bottle sinus rinses last week. He rinses first thing in the morning and at bedtime and this is making a BIG difference for him! ...
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Cindy. I've read numerous sources that say many lung malignancies are found on chest x-ray or chest CT incidentally (as in my Dad's workup for Wegener's), so I...
I'm not 100% convinced my Dad's nodule is a malignancy despite the PET scan. I'm neither in denial nor naïve. I just still feel like it could be Wegener's. Does that sound crazy?
Yes, I would think so too. Prednisone decreases healing time, increases risk for infection, etc. I'll make sure the surgeon looks over his current medications thoroughly.
Below is the significant part of my Dad's PET scan results. Basically, the entire report up to this portion states everything is normal and unremarkable.
PET portion of the study: The...
He didn't mention it. I called and left a message with the rheumatologist's nurse today regarding the plan for biopsy next Monday and surgery most likely week after next. I figured the thoracic...
An update for everyone:
We just returned from my Dad's pulmonologist appt. a little bit ago. We are mostly happy with the news. It's the best case of a worst case scenario. The doctor said the...
