  1. Re: A new year, new possibilities! (MikeG's back)

Good to see you back here Mike!
That's great news about the knee and well done with the weight loss. I put on about 20 pounds soon after my transplant last March and I'm struggling to get rid of it....
  2. Re: 41 Years with Wegeners - Not a Relapse after all - Squamous Cell Carcinoma

    Hi Kim,
You have the same attitude as me. I would rather know that I have something serious so that you know what you're up against and can begin the fight, rather than not knowing, even though you...

    How's all our Aussie friends?

I know Alysia already asked on the Happy New Year thread, but for any of our Australian friends who missed her question, we all pray no harm as come to you, your family, friends, neighbours and pets....
  4. Re: How many got the Wegners or GPA Dx without a bx?

Kidney biopsy confirmed diagnosis and most of my relapses/flares, but I have also had flares confirmed without a biopsy.
I'm only guessing, but perhaps a dr who specialises in vasculitis is more...

    Re: Transplant

Just a brief update on the kidneys.
For the last 3 months my function has been very stable at 39-41%, so it looks like 40% is going to be my long term level, which I'm very happy with so long as it...

    Re: Transplant

My latest blood results are back and it's great news!! My kidney function has increased from 36-42%. I'm so pleased that I didn't get worried the last month where my function had dropped from...

    Re: Glad to be diagnosed

    Hi Geoff,
Good to see you on the forum. How often are you at Addenbrookes now?
I seemed to be there most months for the first couple of years, but since my transplant it looks like I'll only be...

    Re: Newly diagnosed and Divorcing

You do have support of everyone here, even if we can't physically be with you and have a chat over a cuppa (that's a cup of hot tea, preferably with a dash of milk:biggrin1:)
    No matter what support...

    Re: Methotrexate without Prednisone

I won't bore you with all the reasons I hate pred and why I'm strongly against taking it for myself, But I will take it when necessary. If my vasculitis is flaring/relapsing (or my kidney transplant...

    Re: Imuran Side Effects

With 4xRTX infusions every 6 months you may not need an extra maintenance drug?
But there is one you didn't mention that you'd tried, Mycophenolate. That may be an option.
    I doubt they'll put you...

    Re: pberggren memorial thread

    Alysia,
I know that every day you think of Phil, but this time of year must be harder for you.
Carry on thinking about him, but try not to get too upset. You know all Phil would want is for you to...

    Re: Transplant

    Hi Natty,
It's good to hear from you. My dad is doing great! He had a tough time on the operating table, losing a lot of blood, but 24hrs later he was very well and within 2 weeks he was completely...

    Re: Transplant

Latest blood results showed no change in kidney function. I'll look on the positive side, at least it didn't drop.
There was some good news though. During the pre-transplant assessment I had a low...

    Re: Transplant

My tacrolimus level was raised a little when I had blood tests done, which can have some effect on kidney function. Dr phoned me and asked me to reduce my dose, so we'll see if that has helped next...

    Re: Transplant

The ups and downs are expected, but there's been many more downs than ups. From a high of 51% in mid April, it's dropped to 36%.
Admittedly, the 51% seemed a bit of an anomaly as the next result...

    Re: Transplant

Bit of a disappointment with latest blood results. All the kidney function I'd gained over the last 6 weeks or so, has been lost and I'm back down to 36%. I won't let it worry me too much.

  25. Re: First Rituxan for Relapse - Check! Thanks everyone!

    Hi Kim,
Glad the RTX infusion went well, especially after slowing it down and giving you a different antihistamine.
I think you're correct with the 2-3 month period before RTX starts working, but...
