I was diagnosed about 3 months ago now and after being stable for the last month we dropped my daily Prednisolone from 25mg daily to 20mg. I began after a few days to feel unwell again and was "on the couch" once again for a number of hours each day. My coordination once again started to deteriorate. Then over night I developed a headache with a pain in my eye. On the 3rd day my vision began to go in that one eye. I saw my doc and she said go to an Optometrist. My Opt after a very thorough examination said get yourself to the Melbourne Eye hospital now. That was 4 hours drive away and as they were expecting me they fast tracked me through Emergency. After many tests, MRI to make sure I didn't have a tumour, ultra sounds etc they found I had a problem with my optic nerve with general swelling. It seems that it's very rare and that whatever it is would need to be treated with IV Prednisolone for 3 sessions. It was interesting that one of the tests was for colour blindness and this had deteriorated. The level of care was absolutely amazing so I recommend that if ever your eyes are playing up go staight to a very specialised hospital. The Docs there all seemed to know about Wegeners which was amazing. The Doc who looked after me co-ordinated everything so amazingly with other hospitals and my rheumatologist. Well done Melbourne Eye Hospital.

Wow, this is taking on a familiar ring. I've begun having swelling, burning, blurriness, and a lot of tearing in both eyes, with it being worse on the left side. I have all the symptoms of conjunctivitis. In the past, I've had trouble with allergic conjunctivitis in the spring and fall. In fact, I have eye drops that I used for that purpose. Since I have the drops, I am using them, but having daily headaches that I am sure come from my eyes. I'm going to keep a close watch (no pun intended) on this situation.

Wow I am starting to get a my left eye dripping as well. The doctor prescribed some ointment but I somehow don't think its working. I am waiting for an appointment to meet with my eye specialist...

Hi Natalie! I hope you get that appointment soon! For the past week, I've been treating mine with Crolom, an eye drop for allergic conjunctivitis. It seemed as if there was some real progress going on, but today I woke up to lots of swelling and tearing again today. I see the Rheumy on Thursday - finally!
