Thanks Col23,
We celebrated today (v busy tomorrow), i got breakfast in bed, a few pressies, family cleaned up the house. Mum coming for tea (hubby cooking), there is a Pavlova in the oven and a coffee in my hand . . . oh what bliss . . . it is turning out to be a great day all round!

Your experience puts me to shame. All my Mum gets is a phone call :-)

Thank you Col. just came back from a brunch with my Mom and son. We had a gourmet burger (yes there is such a thing) and we topped it off by going to Granville Island (look it up on the internet) in Vancouver for a crepe filled with strawberries and whipped cream - oooooh was it good then we stayed for some busker shows. It was a sunny fun filled day, I wish you all you Moms the same

the only thing spoiling the fun was my lower back pain which is a pain and my left leg pain - can't win them all LOL

Hi Andrew, i don't usually get so spoilt, but seeing my husband forgot last year and the children were upset they did not have anything to give me, he went the extra mile this year, i had a great day. I must confess i am a bit slack with my mum as well, i get busy, time gets away and i realize usually that morning i have forgotten her, i am usually the one looking for some van parked beside the road selling flowers, and i get the kids to make a card. Don't feel too bad, we have all done the same. Every year i say to myself i will get more organised, i buy a diary . . . and you guessed i forget to use it.

I had a lovely day although it was a big effort, tummy upset and lethargy. I think everyone should take sometime out and just do nice things for you every now and then.
Girls its great what a new top, getting your hair done or a pedicure can do for the spirit. Guys Im not sure what lifts your spirit, perhaps Andrew can enlighten us.

My GP just moved to a place called Tofino in B.C. on Vancouver Island. It is a small town of about 1500 on the west coast right beside Pacific Rim National Park. It is a very beautiful area.

Col 23
05-18-2010, 08:41 AM
I think we can do it all - pberggren!,Tofino sounds fabulous, as long as not too hot and not too cold.
Sangye you will be organising the troops full of beans and energy, up the front of the plane asking us all if we have taken our meds and to rest before we land. Standing there as a fine example of " you can do it".
cheers Col 23

Hi Sangye, are you okay? Silly question but just wondering if the 2mg of Pred is still going okay. If you saw me this afternoon after shopping and a trip to the dentist you would wonder if Id ever recover. Must have been the dentist bill. Booked in for GA to do everything in July. Off to Rheumy tomorrow. Lets change it all,in our fantasy trip we can do anything of course and we have perfect weight, fabulous handbags, shoes, nails, hair and clothes and most important perfect health. Oh yeah and enough money for the trip.
cheers Col 23

Tofino is a great place. Driving there is interesting, very winding and long drive. the coast is just fabulous, long wide beach and cute wharf and restaurants.

I fess up, I love handbags; my favourite pick me up is a pedicure and i am finaly able to get some fancy flats (albeit size 11W when I can get it) Life is looking good

Col 23
05-20-2010, 09:34 PM
Well I worked out that no one can see my weight if I have huge glam sunnies, fabulous handbags, shoes and nails, and hair.(my little joke) Now to be honest sometimes this cannot be co ordinated at the same time. Just to have a shower let alone wash your hair and do something with it is a big effort some days. The nail polish stays on for long periods of time, comfort for shoes instead of glamour often comes first, but one thing I can control is the handbag and the sunnies. Occasionally I get it all together but its rare. I try on my good days.
If all this fails my next great love is beautiful teacups and teasets , fairy cakes, roses and strawberry smoothies and daquaries. (daquaries have been out for some time due to alcohol content but I have snuck one or two in since diagnsose in decemeber 09. Sitting in my PJs in the garden, with a beautiful teacup and a fairy cake on my bad days really helps. When I go shopping I look forward to a Wendy's strawberry smoothy. Just thought I would share my little joys and pick me ups. Col 23

I was hearing about a book on one of the morning shows today. I can't remember the title but it was something about favorite awesome things, anyway they were cool like when you have a night sweat and turn your pillow over and it is nice and cool aganist your face.

Col, your post gave me that ahhh, what a cool feeling..beautiful teacups and fairy cakes in your garden. What an awesome image.

Love the Peas on Earth. The pillow thing is just great I never thought to do that. I know I look for the cold spot in the bed to put my feet when they are all hot and inflamed and that feels wonderful when you find it.
