We all need a giggle, so I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to funny stuff. Share funny pics, stories, whatever you've got. No topic, not necessary to link it to the previous post. Just gotta be funny! :D

Sangye, I love these! Keep them coming. I have many funny stories, but probably would not be appropiate on this site. Many of them are from my days as a student nurse. If something comes up I will post it.

A friend of mine is quite deaf without her hearing aids (non-Weggie). Yesterday we were talking on the phone while she was commuting home on a noisy bus. There was so much background noise it was hard to hear her. We were catching up on each other's lives since we hadn't talked in several days. She said, "Guess what? I'm getting new hearing aids." I couldn't hear her and said "What?" She burst into laughter and repeated it. I said "Can I have your old ones?" :D

When I first remembered this story, I thought of it as a "red neck" story but the more I think about it, maybe it is more of a "weggie" story.
When my oldest son first started working at a home improvement center, he saw and had to assist all kinds of people. At the time, he worked in windows and doors. A couple was strolling around looking at some doors and the man said they were needing a new door. They walked up and down checking prices, styles, etc. The wife had wandered off to the other side. When the man decided on several doors my son asked him what size he would need so he could check and see if it was in stock. He yelled out to his wife, "Hey honey, come over here and see which one of these doors you can fit through." Priceless.....

Terri that is a good "red neck" story! Wonder if they are still married. :)

In Ontario in the 80's there was a case of very smart robers. They successfully robbed many banks and got away in their get away car. One would think that since it was always the same car they would be cought very quickly espcially since they had a huge white foam the finger sign. When interviewed by the police the witnesses exitedly shouted that they seen the get away car. Asked what kind of car it was they replied," the one with the white foamy finger sign".

LOL-- she is SO cute. I think she deserves a yogurt. :D

My dogs know when I have yogurt they get to lick the cup. They come and sit by me patiently as I eat it, then they each take turns licking it. They're so sweet with each other-- no fighting, no grumbling.

I had to put a picture up of our English Bulldog named Mac. We recently discovered that our 3 1/2 year old son is allergic to dogs, so Mac is living with my parents. He does great there because they have a female english bulldog and another little dog that he plays with :)

Brooke, I can't get that attachment to work. It must have been hard to give up Mac, but I'm so glad he's still in the family!

I love bulldogs. Our temple started a dog rescue during Hurricane Katrina. One of the rescues was a bulldog who'd had her teeth filed down so she could be a "bait" dog for fighting dogs to practice on. Can you imagine? Our lama adopted her. Last year she asked one of our monks to adopt her because she noticed the dog loved men and only tolerated women. This monk looks just like the dog. They're hilarious together-- a perfect pair. The dog has INCREDIBLE gas, though. I've never smelled anything like that coming from a living being. He drove me to an appointment once with the dog in the backseat. I actually got really nauseous for hours because of the smell. So funny.

Brooke

Sangye - how do you post pictures on here? Maybe I will try again.
That is quite the story with the "gassy" dog!! I love bulldogs too, and we see him whenever we want, my parents live about 5 minutes from us!

Hi, I have a question but was not sure where it would fit in so I decided this might be the best place. I am planning on going on a little holiday. My question is: Is it safe to go into the hot springs while you are on prednisone and cyclophsaphamide?

pberggren1
06-05-2010, 04:42 PM
I would say not for longer than 15 or 20 mintues at one time per day.

Are you going to Banff?

Sangye
06-05-2010, 10:43 PM
Cindy, if it were just hot water like a jacuzzi, it's best to limit it to 5-10 minutes. The heat increases your circulation, heart rate and bp--not good with those drugs. But it's the sulfur aspect of the hot springs that has me squirming. It can pull toxins out of you (which is one reason why it's so healing), but your drugs are necessary toxins. You don't want them being detoxed from your body. Also, once you've taken chemo some of it remains in the body indefinitely. It can be released into your bloodstream during any type of detox and become quite dangerous.

On one of my very bloated days a lovely lady at the local shop patted my tummy and asked when my baby was due, so I had to tell her it was medication related and came home and cried, but what made me laugh was as I was relating this story to my 17 son, ( typical ape man who only grunts a lot ), expecting hopefully some sympathy, instead got hysterical laughter and writhing around on the ground. Don't worry I will get him back!!! Have to think of some devious and very embarrassing....

I was talking to a doc the other day and he advised me not to say I have memory loss or poor memory but to state that I have lack of concentration due to the medications. He explained that when we cant find car keys its just we wernt concentrating where we put them its not that we forgot. Sometimes changes of a more postive terminology assists in our self confidence.

LisaMarie, I was also self-conscious and very stubborn about using a scooter, that cost me another month off work and a trip to the hospital. I have now embraced the ability to do more because of the extra energy I have by letting the electric scooter do the walking work for me at work and in stores. LOL, oh great, I do weird things like that..now I'm curious and we have a brand new bag. I'll have to wait until my grandchildren are asleep, they will mourn their marshmallows and I wouldn't want to give them any ideas, especially Brianna, the 3 year old. Was it on this thread where I saw a picture of a fat cat lying on it's back?

Hammy8241

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company.

One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard headingrapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old poodle thinks, 'Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!' Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, 'Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?'

Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. 'Whew!' says the leopard, 'That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!'

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.

The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, 'Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!

Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, 'What am I going to do now?', but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says.

'Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!

Moral of this story....

Don't mess with old farts ..

I wanted to start a thread but I guess you need special permission to do that? For the life of me I couldn't find a button to click to let me do it. So, my thing would fit under the title 'funny stuff' or 'diet and loosing weight'. I want to title it "I don't feed rats cheeseburgers".
Then I want to include a link Junk food-addicted rats chose to starve themselves rather than eat healthy food (http://www.naturalnews.com/029382_junk_food_rats.html)
and then I wanted to remember something Sangye said , at least I think that is where I read it , that we seek out the foods that cause imbalance when we are IN imbalance and seek out the foods that cause balance once we achieve balance. That is an interesting idea and I can see myself at times having been way in one camp or the other or flip flopping between the two.

Oh God! It's a cat on Pred.

Doug
08-21-2010, 10:51 AM
Sangye ~ No! Jack ~ I think kitty gets too many tuna treats! That is the most outrageous example of pet abuse through feeding I've ever seen, though I have to say I got a big chuckle out of it!

When I first saw that picture, I redoubled my efforts to get Louie moving more (which means I'M moving more!) by taking him outside on walks. He gets additional exercise tormenting grasshoppers, which he loves to chase, and I'm glad to let him do. He's slimmed down a bit, too, because I'm feeding him fish dinners, and he is a turkey breast cat day in and out, if her can get it. He doesn't like dark meat as well. He likes his crunchies, but eats them in moderation.

All said, Louie is a huge cat (at least twice a typical cat in weight, and maybe three times in length and heigth). =( ^+^ )=

Sangye
08-21-2010, 10:55 AM
Whew!! I was really upset when I saw that pic, thinking it was abuse, too. I didn't know how I was gonna contain my anger if it was Louie! I should have known better. Thank goodness he has a good daddy.

Doug
08-21-2010, 11:06 AM
You can see he can do headstands (see avatar)! That takes great strength and agility! I should have been more clear. Louie looks and feels lighter. He wastes more food these days, ,i.e. eats less of even things he likes, but I guarantee our boy is thriving! It's been pretty hot here through August, July, and I think that slowed his appetite, too, because on those rare cool days, he ate like a lumberjack again.

LOL... he thinks he's mean looking... actually he is a moose! Last weigh in he tipped the scales at 22lbs. Vet says he's not overweight... just BIG. But he does like to eat brownies, popcorn, anything sweet or salty with his momma ;)
Funny thing is, I have his sister (from same litter) and she only weighs 8 pounds...
btw- his name is Chesty, sisters name is Puller (named after Chesty Puller, USMC. Got them to keep myself from having a breakdown when my son left for the Marine Corps 4 years ago) also have a 3-legged rescue kitty (all 3 are rescued) named Peggy Ilene....

He's adorable, Misskay. But hey, please don't let him have chocolate--it's extremely toxic to cats and dogs (and birds). Chocolate Toxicity in Cats and Dogs (http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=0+1783&aid=242)

He only gets a bit of brownie on rare occasions when a piece hits the floor and he's faster than I am ;)
He much prefers popcorn, bbq chips and deli pastrami

Those precious dogs are faster than us! My golden can hear a crumb dropping in air and races to get it!

Some days I think I should have named him "Hoover"... he's actually eaten gravel that got tracked in. Try explaining THAT to the vet at 10:30pm :/

Oh LisaMarie I could cry with you. Today I again forgot to take my meds in the morning, then left my cell phone in the car, then left my keys in a store, and all this on only 4mg of pred. I think my brain is permanently ffried.

LOL... sounds familiar. The other day I had a Dr appt.
Hair done... check
Clothes on...check
Med list ready... check
car keys, purse, water bottle... check

Got all the way to the parking lot before I noticed that I was still wearing my fuzzy pink piggy bedroom slippers. Wondered why my feet weren't hurting :/

Each kitten in a litter can have a different father... disturbing but true, Meh! (My cat Louie weighs in at 20 lbs. He, too is a moose, but he also is a chubster with a goal to slim down.)

Doug, maybe you should enroll Louie in dance classes. I hear they're great exercise. And a good place to meet chicks.

Dear Mother Ship:

Please bring Jack back. We do not like his imposter.

Jack

I though I would introduce him to you all since he appears for me on some of the other sites I frequent. He is sometimes called OblivionJack.
Don't judge him by appearances, he just represents another aspect of me. ;)

That is Jack's dinner knife.

Jack
09-22-2010, 07:33 AM
what is he doing?
Smoking a cigarette and holding a switch blade.

There are lots of different aspects, this one usually hangs out on car sites trying to help some of the young lads to keep their old cars running.

I loooove him.

It's great to be well rounded - and not just because of pred :cool1:

Bring it on.
