Rituxin after effects

I was just wondering if anybody has any symptoms after their infusions of Rituxin. It seems to get me down a few days later and can last up to 4-6 weeks. I get extremely tired and can barely get out of bed. I had the infusions twice last year and just had one 2 weeks ago. It seems to have gotten worse. I'm off right now because I had a total knee replacement and am recovering from that but was doing great until my infusion. I talked with my Rheumy Dr and he seems to think its all in my head. I know its not. Anyone else have these symptoms?

Hi Tomary,

Some of us experience mild fatigue for a few days after rtx. I’m not sure whether what I personally experience is from rtx or from the drug cocktail I get with it. I get a big dose of steroids, some Tylenol, and some Benadryl. The evening after the infusion, I’m a little wakeful. The next day, I’m a bit tired. The day after that, I’m back to normal. I have nothing like what you experience.

Your doc saying that it’s in your head is a red flag for me. You might want to see if you can find a wegs specialist as your current doc doesn’t seem to inspire much confidence.

The Benidril makes me tired as well, The treatment I come home wiped and it will take me days to recover. Hope this helps huggs

It takes about 4 weeks for the Rituxin to kick in. Could be your Wegs symptoms just getting worse till they start getting better.

I would be surprised if you were NOT having a more difficult time with Rituxan after just having surgery. We can only take so much stress to the body and it starts to snow ball.
