So... I chatted with @mishb (http://www.wegeners-granulomatosis.com/forum/member.php?u=1164) on her birthday and we tought about having a birthday thread for everyone.
When you scroll down the forum page, you can see who is having birthday today. please do it on the version of the computer. If you are on mobile, search the option of "add site to desktop" (I hope that my translation from Hebrew to English is right). It will bring you to the computer version on your phone. Then at the bottom of the forum you will see the birthdays list. I think you can only see it before you log in and not after.
No idea how those on taptalk can see it...

Our birthdays are the longest one can have, starting in Australia and ending at the west coast. That's how cool we are :)

I don't think it's normal to crash for a month after the infusion. Is it? Feels like it made me worse. Labs look good though...

Between Wegener's and renal failure, a lack of energy is the worst of all the symptoms.

It can be that you still sleep a lot because of the rtx. I had mine a week after you and I today I slept 3 hours just like that in the middle of the morning. There is a fight going on inside the body so resting is important.

Thanks, Misch...a shingle and pain free birthday would be the best! Seeing lots of frogs in the yard lately, though they are so fast, you don't get much chance to actually see them. I think they are small and brown.

I will say that we are susceptible to them, being immunosuppressed, and especially if over 50-60 years old. And there is a new non-live vaccine that is recommended for everyone and more effective than the previous one. Really, Shingles is so miserable..... especially the nerve pain which often continues on, more so in older people.

Thank you so much, Alysia, for the special birthday wishes! The song and video are so cute, I will try to save them for another person's birthday. My birthday on the west coast starts in about 2.5 hours. Today took the day off from the farmers market and went to a large neighborhood gathering with my sister Mary who recently moved up here from California. It was the Blueberry Blast, held at a church, honoring the local blueberry season with various food and activities and bluegrass music. The proceeds from food sales, raffle tickets, and Bingo are put towards a local food bank which also takes place at the church, weekly. They have a large vegetable garden run by volunteers to supply part of the food for low income people. Mary and I each had a blueberry milkshake and a slice of blueberry pie. It was an OK day, could have been more fun, but we contributed to a good cause. Thanks again, and I'm not forgetting that your birthday is Easter! Although I suspect it may have been missed this year... don't remember when we found out that it is that day each year, regardless of actual date.

Thanks, Masha! Actually, my birthday is today, so you aren't late! The blueberry festival was yesterday. I didn't see any actual whole blueberries except those in the pie. But there are lots of them in the area right now, including at the farmers market. I'd say they are medium to large and sweet enough. They may vary according to the qualities of individual farms and backyards, how much water and sunlight they get, the skills of the grower, and the variety. I remember those at my grandparents' place as being especially large and flavorful, and abundant. I'd like to see if they are still there, but it's not in the family anymore, and they painted the house an ugly yellow, so I think I'll pass. Thanks again for the birthday wishes!

annekat, do I remember correctly and you had a blueberry avatar here long ago ?Well, good memory, but it was a blackberry avatar. I still have it at the top of my Facebook timeline. These aren't just any blackberries, but a kind native to this area which have a lower, trailing growth pattern as opposed to the big sprawling "Himalayan" variety that grows all over the US, as far as I know. I have both on my property. The native blackberries have a more distinctive flavor and are considered superior by most here. I don't think blueberries are native here, but two types of huckleberries are, which grow mainly in the wild, but some of which are used to flavor some brands of ice cream. Huckleberries look similar to blueberries, but are smaller, and it seems likely that blueberries were hybridized from them. They are native elsewhere in the US, too, I believe, hence, Huckleberry Finn.

Lots of Happy Birthdays, me2, Alysia, mishb. This must be the strangest birthday any of you have ever had. Today, April 23rd is my husbands 77th birthday. I told him I would bake him a cake or cookies, his choice. He asked for home made pecan sticky buns. It took me a half day, making the sweet dough, letting it rise, rolling it out, filling and cutting, then baking. It was all worth it, delish! And he is one happy camper. Wish I could share them with all of you birthday people, but you will have to settle for a virtual bite. My warmest wishes across the miles and oceans that each of you have a blessed and healthy year.

Our town and neighbouring towns are some of the worse in the whole of the UK. We have extra restrictions where you can't even visit anyone even in their garden. Yet pubs and restaurants are open :confused1:
It has been assessed that most of the covid spread is due to visiting people. I believe that it is much safer for me to see my family in our garden then going to a pub. Social distancing does not exist once people have had a few alcoholic drinks.
I had a supermarket delivery today, so made sure I included some nice food and a birthday cake.

My wife had to return to work as she took off 3 months (unpaid) to help keep me safe, but we can't afford to continue this. She works in a supermarket on the customer service desk, dealing with hundreds of people each day. It's a risky environment, but she tries to keep as safe as possible, such as having our shopping delivered.

Hope you're well and managing to keep as safe as possible.

It's my birthday today. :smile1:
It's currently 2.30pm locally.
Wife made me breakfast in bed and brought my birthday cards and gifts to the bedroom for me to open.
My mum and dad quickly stopped by to wish me a happy birthday. They stayed in the garden and I kept my distance (first year my mum hasn't given me a kiss on my birthday).
Technically, in my area, you are not allowed in people's private gardens, but I think this is more to stop the temptation of visitors entering each other's houses.
I've just got back from walking our dog.
Rest of family is staying away and have either sent gifts via Amazon, or sent some money direct to my bank account to get myself a gift. I'm considering a soundbar for our TV - may as well have the house sounding like a cinema considering I can't visit them :lol:

My transplant was in March. Can't believe it's almost been a year and a half. During this pandemic there's virtually no contact with the hospital and even blood tests are being don at much longer intervals. Fortunately my kidney function has remained. I had blood tests yesterday, including one to test for coeliac disease and another for ferritin (iron level), plus stool samples for Iriritable Bowl Disease.

My wife really doesn't have an option of working from home. Things are not good in the UK jobs wise with many businesses closing due to being closed for many months and she doesn't have any skills/experience in the types of jobs where you can work from home.

Kidney is still behaving itself thanks. I've a few issues to do with pain and severe fatigue, but so long as kidney is stable and wegs is under control, I won't grumble. Hope the lung issue isn't too severe and gets sorted out soon. My mum isn't in the best of health, but my dad is the fittest of us all even though he's the oldest :biggrin1:

Thanks Alysia glad you're getting better! We came out of lockdown Friday before last. Still some restrictions but getting slowly back to normal. We have a high vaccination rate in this town too (90+%) which makes life easier. Can travel to most areas now except Sydney but that's open from next week so off I go :)

So... I chatted with @mishb (http://www.wegeners-granulomatosis.com/forum/member.php?u=1164) on her birthday and we tought about having a birthday thread for everyone.
When you scroll down the forum page, you can see who is having birthday today. please do it on the version of the computer. If you are on mobile, search the option of "add site to desktop" (I hope that my translation from Hebrew to English is right). It will bring you to the computer version on your phone. Then at the bottom of the forum you will see the birthdays list. I think you can only see it before you log in and not after.
No idea how those on taptalk can see it...

Our birthdays are the longest one can have, starting in Australia and ending at the west coast. That's how cool we are :)
