Hello everyone, Dr. Villa Forte wanted a chest CT because she saw something she didnt like on a chest xray dated september 2016. So i did the CT and i viewed the results. Something that i googled, but still want your advice on. It said i have chronic atelectasis or stabble scarring in my right lower lobe. What does this mean? I did rituxan in february. Was at local pcp yesterday because i have been having sinus issues and very swollen painful lymph nodes. She put me on bactrim for an infection. The CT was done monday because thats when it was scheduled..i just happened to be sick then. So what does this mean? I know from experience now that it may be a week until Dr Villa forte gets these results. Should i call her, or maybe its not a big deal I am SOB, but i have the TS also, that causes that. Thanks all!

I am not sure what that is but it just sounds like scar tissue to me and if they say it is stable then I wouldn't worry about it. My ct scans always show scarring also since my lobectomy. If you are worried about it though, call her up, she can ask for the disk and results sent to her. Glad you had a good visit with her. Did she put you on any different meds ?

Thanks Debbie C , Yes she is stopping the rituxan and going back to methotrexate, which i was on for 10 years before i did rituxan last summer. She is trying to get me in with Dr. Lorenz. She feels my stenosis was not being properly treated. I spoke with her last evening and she is going to get the disk to see how large this whatever it is in my lung is. Im not real worried, im just wondering if it attributes to my SOB.

I have the same. Scar tissue developed and blocked the right upper lobe airway. A lung specialist at St Lukes in Houston tried to open it, and could not. The best lung specialist available could not do it. So I lost the right upper lobe...it just collapsed. Atelectasis is the collapse or closure of a lung. You need to have periodic lung function tests, and xrays to make sure it does not spread to your other lung. A pulmonologist/lung specialist will be able to see this collapse, others will not be able to see it.

Hmm...intresting. So does this cause you any problems? Like SOB, or inability to walk briskly even? It would seem like it would!

When first diagnosed, I was out of work for 6 months. It took that long to walk again, and yes It did not take much to get winded. Then I went back to work, it was hard. I am in operations at huge refinery outside of Houston. So it was really hard, but I pushed through it because I love to work.

Regarding the treatment, she will be stopping rituximab completely, and switching to methotrexate? Isn't mtx just a maintenance therapy and rtx is used as a preventer? Wishing you well.

Yes you're right Aneinu, usually methotrexate is maitenance. Which is all i need. We just didnt realize that for sure until Dr. Villa Forte took over my treatment. My stenosis in my throat has been my only issue for the past 7 years. And now we know it doesnt respond to imunosupressants. So the rituxan was something i shouldnt have tried and did not need. I will see ENT soon at cleveland clinic and hopefully get some more clarification. Thankyou for your well wishes!
