I am looking for a doctor in the Huntsville, Al. area. My original Weg. Dr. has retired and my family Dr. doesn't know anything about Weg. I fear I am relapsing. I can ask for an ANCA but do want to have someone who knows about Weg. so I don't have to go through what I had to the first time.
If you know someone please let me know. Thanks, Joyce

Huntsville is pretty good sized and wegs isn't all that super rare. I think what I would do is call several rheumies in the area and ask them about how many wegs patients they have. That should give you a pretty good indication. Sure beats driving to Birmingham or Atlanta.

Thank you, I was the first Wegener's diagnosed in Huntsville. It was pretty rough. The Dr. I had then is about to retire. Thank you for your help and I will keep looking. I do know there are some Wegener patients with the rheumatologist I saw. I am no longer with him. I quit seeing him when I went into remission. I was hoping someone here was seeing one they liked. I am looking in B'ham. You are right about the inconvenience of driving to B'ham or Atlanta.

I know many web sites for clinics list their staff and often areas of interest. i have seen vasculitis listed along with auto immune disorders listed for some doctors at one clinic I use. Try searching and see if you find any one in your area plus asking clinics who hs experience in this area.
