I was wondering how many people get such emails from their clinics. Mayo is very successful in their fund raising and have received billions to build their impressive facilities and to do the research for their advanced treatment techniques which they often pioneer. Their facilities at Rochester are very impressive and besides the million plus patients they have every year, they also have thousands of tourists that come to just to see it and tour it. more facts here: Mayo Clinic Facts - About Us - Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.org/about-mayo-clinic/facts-statistics)

The art work through is world class and the museum and history displays are very interesting and the educational programs are generally top notch too.

Are the other centers of excellence like Cleveland Clinic or John Hopkins similar?

I can only speak for Mass General Hospital. I have been a patient there for only one month and have not rec'd any solicitation. Their facilities, tho clean and somewhat updated, are not mind blowing at all. Coming from NH I'm used to larger facility spaces and exam rooms. Of course Boston real estate comes at a much higher price tag than NH, so space is bound to be more limited. But with that said, every person I've interacted with has been professional, friendly and very helpful. I could not ask for more and would not change a thing about Who I'm receiving health care from. I'm thrilled with and grateful for MGH.
