Finally had my appt with the vasculitis specialist at MGH and the good news is that he agreed with the majority of the treatment I have been receiving. The major difference is that he is using Rituxin q6months for maintanance and I am receiving MTX. Mentioned that new studies are leaning toward the Rituxin. Although my RA said if the MTX does not prove effective he would go to Rituxin. MGH also suggested I see another neuro-opthamologist since he does not totally agree with some of the follow-up with the one that I currently seeing so he will be sending me the name of another one to see.
He spent almost an hour and a half with me and was very thorough and knowledgeable. I felt reassured when I left and will follow-up with him every 6 months.
