Vasculitis Foundation lists the following in Northern California:
San Francisco - Dr Sharon Chung and Dr Sarah Goglin at UCSF (415)514-1673
Stanford - Dr Cornelia Weiland of Stanford Rheumatology (650)723-6961

Some folks have posted good things about Dr Chung on here before. It's a bit of a drive from Sacramento to San Francisco, but it's probably doable in a day.

Some folks have posted good things about Dr Chung on here before. It's a bit of a drive from Sacramento to San Francisco, but it's probably doable in a day. Actually, it is not that much of a drive. Probably an hour and a half to two hours.... but that's not considering the traffic, which can be pretty bad. Of course, anyone living in Sacramento probably knows all that. I have heard there's a vasculitis, or at least rheumatology, clinic at the UC Davis teaching hospital in Sacramento. There is probably some info on the UC Davis or the Med Center website. I have no personal recommendations of doctors in Sacramento but would love to hear of someone there specialized enough to treat WG competently. I lived in Davis for 22 years and my dad taught at the medical school there.

There is a lack of rheumatologists in Sacramento. There is a vasculitis clinic at UCSF (San Francisco) about an hour and a half from Sacto. Both Dr.’s Chung and Goglin work there. I was unable to find any specialists near me in NorCal, so for the last year I've seen Dr. Goglin at UCSF. I like her a lot! I feel like she takes her time, listens to my concerns and follows up regularly with me. She also monitors more things than my previous doctor did (who was a rheumatologist but not a vasculitis specialist) and is a bit more cautious in her approach than he was. Her office is very efficient and friendly; the only downside I've found is that her appointments book out many months in advance.

Since I've started seeing Dr. Goglin, I've had a major relapse and established care with many additional specialists at UCSF. Their Proctor Ophthalmology Foundation is excellent for WG-related eye issues and I found an ENT I really like, Dr. Matthew Russell.

UCSF is also the #1 rated hospital in California and I had a "great" experience the two times I was hospitalized there (It was excellent, even though I hate being in the hospital).

I looked at Dr. Weyland at Stanford, but she is nearing retirement and I wanted a doctor I could work with for many years. I also looked at UC Davis, but could only find a handful of Rheumatologists and no one who specializes in Vasculitis. Good luck!
