Yesterday was a good day in the battle to Stop Diabetes. Of course type one diabetes is considered an Auto Immune disorder so maybe we will get some benefit too.

Congress and the President agreed last night on a budget for next year that includes big increases to diabetes funding.
Thank you to all of the Diabetes Advocates who helped make diabetes a priority by emailing, calling and visiting their legislators. Lawmakers heard loud and clear: diabetes research and prevention programs matter!
Because of the efforts of Diabetes Advocates across the country:
The main NIH institution for diabetes research will get over $1.8 billion in funding—an increase of over $68 million compared to FY2015. This will allow the institute to expand promising research that moves us closer toward a cure for diabetes.
The CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT) will receive over $170 million—an increase of $30 million. This agency’s important mission is to reduce the preventable burden of diabetes, and their work makes a difference every day in the lives of people living with the disease.
And the National Diabetes Prevention Program’s budget has been doubled from last year to $20 million providing hope for all Americans who are at risk.
We couldn’t have done this without you and we still have more to do. Please help us continue our success by telling your friends and family to join us at www.diabetes.org/advocate (http://advocacy.diabetes.org/site/R?i=frxMfzPeXRf2ST8cW3e1DA).
