I was diagnosed by chance: Took the little "hangnail" to the clinic and doc said:"No hangnail, early gangrene!" Was redirected to a vascular "specialist" who decided I had diabetes and refused to listen to me telling " I am hardly ever thirsty." Lost a couple of months,3, on useless med and then decided to take lab-
tests anyways, cholesterol must be low, I know what I eat. BUT it turned out kidneyfunction was down to 50 %, so gp got me in the hospital same afternoon, and there i lay for 2+ weeks during which the toe got so bad it had to be amputated. But I am so lucky, it was middle toe, no pain at all and I think the whole neighbourhood heard my YAHOO first time I drove.
I am one of the lucky ones, at 70 that was my first time in a hospital! Some broken bones here and there only. I was impressed with the care and service, so many complaints, but I was pleased. only one com-
plaint and that was the lack of salt!! When daughter set the table for me she put plate, cutlery and saltshaker! Soon I learned tyhat vinegar/sugar in a minibottle was excellent to get some taste.
That is the story of my last year and ½ and I am still fascinated of all the turns this disease takes.
Very tired all the time, but since starting to read here I have learned a lot from other people: It is not lazyness, the dripping nose, the shortness of breath etc. Thanks all for sharing.

Hey Moyan, glad your ok. Keep an eye on your symptoms, as you know you can get a flare of WG and it's really sneaky like a ( you can fill in the blank). Thanks for being open with your story.

Wow !! First lengh in the hospital! That is good news. And even better the doc's caught the WG when they did. Someone is watching over you well. Good luck and do be very aware of what your body feels like from day to day. A journal is helpful especially since the meds mess with my head and memory, I think? good luck and keep on top of it.
