Does anyone suffer with ulcers 'down below' caused by vasculitis/WG?

I know vasculitis can cause ulcers anywhere, but Behcet's is the disease I have read about mucosal type ulcers the most.

I didn't know that vasculitis could cause ulcers anywhere...does anyone know why this is?

Probly cuz of the inflammatory aspects of the disease & it's ability to spread to/affect other areas of body thru blood vessels.

I get ulcers in my mouth. they've said because of mtx. But i have had those ones "down below" too :( As to what causes them....i've concluded that WG doesnt need any explanation for it to do these things to us.It kinda has a mind of its own. Proby not the answer you were looking for :(

Dear Gwen. sorry for my English as I am not sure that I understood what it means "ulcers down below".
what I do have is a colon involvement. the more I read about wg I found out that it can damage every where in the body.
I also know that taking pred without omperdex can cause troubles too.
I hope you can handle it fast and easy. hugs and prayers. love you.

Yes, this illness can do just about any crazy thing. I read of a case once of a man who presented with only prostate involvement. I cannot imagine how his doctor ever figured that out.
Other than treatments that help relieve the symptoms I would guess that treatment of the underlying WG will be the only thing that will help. Unfortunately this often means it will take some time. I hope you all feel better soon.

I know topical steroids help with sinus involvement - which is a mucous membrane. I wonder if there is a topical steroid that could help elsewhere? Maybe the same one as for sinus- budesonide?

I'm not sure about the 'down below' ulcers, but I think I may have one in my stomach. It flares up when I am stressed out, causing pain and acid indigestion. I don't take anything special for it, just ranitadine, the generic for OTC Zantac, which seems to help a lot as a preventative and to ease the symptoms. In a pinch, I will drink baking soda in water, which helps for a bit. My WG treating doc is not a specialist, but a pulmonologist, who must have prescribed prednisone to other patients besides Weggies, and it seems he should know about needing to prescribe an acid blocker. But he apparently doesn't, so I had to figure something out myself. At least, what I figured out seems to work, even if it isn't a prescription med or technically an acid blocker, which I don't know. It was recommended to me by a couple of different friends.

Anyway, this info won't help your type of ulcers, Gwen, so I sympathize with you there. I hope you are able to get some help and some relief for those. I wouldn't doubt what others say above that they could be caused by Wegs.
