I went to my family Doctor yesterday for a check up on my diabetes and blood pressure. While there I asked her if she could see if the results of the TPMT blood test were back. She check for it and after several phone calls to my Pulmonary Doctor, she was able to get the results.
She said my reading is 59 and normal is 40 so I can take the Imuran.
Does anyone know what that means? Is it OK to go ahead with the Imuran?
i just don't have a lot of trust in these Doctors so I am still hesitant in taking it.

According to Dr Specks, someone with a severe TPMT deficiency could lick an Imuran pill and start throwing up.
You should be fine as long as you don't have GERD.
If you GERD, make sure to take your ppi's.

What does the 40 and 59 mean?
i really don't know what that means and I'm not sure if my Doctor does.

I had made a typo in my post about licking imuran, but mispelled it as like, so I fixed it.

Here is web page showing the results of the tpmt test
TPMT - Clinical: Thiopurine Methyltransferase (TPMT), Erythrocytes (http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/test-catalog/Clinical+and+Interpretive/80291)

You will need to know the units of measure to convert your results.
