Hi, I was diagnosed in 2003 and althgouh remained in remission for a couple of years have had flare-ups luckily nothing so serious to go back on prednislone fortunately. But have been on Bactrim since Oct last year, which seems to be keeping things from progressing just suffering sore joints, tiredness and chronic crusting and bleeding of the nose....I guess its something I just have to live with but has changed my life from a social butterfly to hermitville.. :(

Hi Katwoman,
Nice to meet you. How funny that you just joined. One of our members Doug just adopted two cats today. Must be raining cats and ....

I hear you on the hermitville. I used to be an outdoors person-- always outside hiking, biking, etc.... I hope to get back to that at some point!

Thanks Sangye,
Im a devon rex lover so not ur standard cat, think I went for that breed because he has all the energy I wish I still had.
I'd really love to hear from anyone out there that suffers from saddle nose as I can't seem to find any specialist in downunder willing to touch it, for fear it will collapse apparently, but surely there is someone out there.

It happens, then one day you feel sorta "OK", you take on a few social activities, and you find yourself doing things you never expected to do before. At least it worked that way with me! I am more social than ever, though people who've known me 40, 50 years might gibe: "Of course, you never were social to start with, so any increase in your social activities is like 100% over before!:p

Seriously, you sound like you may have a slight flare going on. Have you checked with a Wegener's granulomatosis specialist about these remnants of symptoms or this flare?

Hey Doug,
Hhhhmm I have a major phobia with needles (not good for someone with WG) I keep putting off seeing my GP, yes I know its not something to muck around with, I will make an appoinment Monday to see GP and get my ANCA checked (aaahh needles) just really thought it was it was same old same old, but come to think of it appetite has wained and usually i love my food...I guess joining this group push me to not leave things..will let u know how i go.

I don't have a needle phobia and don't know how I'd manage if I did. I've had to have tons of procedures involving needles. My veins are a mess and it can be hours of digging to get one IV in.

I thought the same thing as Doug when I read your post-- sounds like it could be a flare or at least not a solid remission. Good idea to get it checked out soon.

Katwoman welcome to the group. 1st piece of advice...when someone wearing an orange shirt "Body by Prednisone" tells you he is social...don't believe him. He is probaly trapped somewhere in a cabin under 20 feet of snow.

To get out of Hermitville may I suggest you play "Escape the Room" game located right here on this site. Once you get started you will see many of my friends there, Sangye, Luce, maybe Andrew...not Doug too busy being an entrepreneur selling his shirts. Anyway welcome to our groups you will notice we have many Locos, animal lovers and yes our dear friend Doug. :D:D:D

You got the cabin/snow thing right! On top of it, the new cat, Lucy/Al is a pistol. S/he scares Freckles, and s/he came into my bedroom at least ten times last night to make sure I wasn't asleep: mrow, mrow, mrow? Mrowmrowmrow! Mrow! S/he is a talkative cat, which is ok, but s/he's the handful, not the kitten. I am reasonably certain, because Lucy/Al hints strongly, that the issue is s/he wants to go outside, which won't happen. That's how s/he ended up being a pound cat. Oh! The question was social life and t-shirts! I think I will be too tired for anytrhing requiring effort till I learn how to live with this cat!:)

UPDATE: After walking over my keyboard two or three times while I was using it, then sitting on my mouse, Lucy/Al slipped onto the windowsill next to my desk, sat a little bit to see what was happening, then went over to the kitchen floor, under the electric heat, and fell asleep. It's the first time since s/he came into the apartment that s/he's been quiet or, to my knowledge, slept. I will avoid the temptation to pound pot lids together to wake her/him up, and enjoy the quiet while I can. Also, Freckles came out into the frontroom, after hiding under the bureau in the spare bedroom most of the time since Lucy/Al came to her/his new home, ran to hide under the kitchen table when Lucy/Al came out of the bathroom. (I have to put her/him out every time I use the bathroom because, not unlike cats, I don't particularly care to have an audience!) I suppose when I shower, it will be the same thing since I know Lucy/Al knows how to open the shower door. They crossed paths a little while later, and there was no hissing. Freckles will be the one that wins over her adversary, not the other way around. I can't wait.

LOL LOL LOL.... Richard's our comedian. :D:D

To get out of Hermitville may I suggest you play "Escape the Room" game located right here on this site.
He's also determined to stuff The Room full of Weggies.

Once you get started you will see many of my friends there, Sangye, Luce, maybe Andrew...Yes it's sad but true. We all thought Wegs would be the death of us. But it's really The Room. But before you come in, please bring food. Call Jolanta and ask for cabbage rolls. :D

Doug, I see you're still unsure about what gender Lucy/Al is. Being a dog person, I don't really know cats. Is it really that hard to tell?

Sorry I've not been around for a while, very busy with wedding plans and visitng my Nan now she has a permanent place in a care home.
Welcome Katwoman, sorry Wegs found you but glad you found us! Don't listen to Richard, stay away from Escape the Room unless you really want your patience to be severely tested.
Doug, congratulations on your new companions! I must have missed your original post but if Lucy/Al turns out to be a girl then I don't think you could have picked a better name in my opinion :)

Hope everyone's doing well, will try to catch up over the next week or so.

I was just thinking about you, Luce and hoping you were doing okay. Now that I know you're busy planning your wedding I won't worry. When should we expect our invitations to arrive? Ahem.

I'm just as convinced s/he is a female cat as I was that Woodie, the neutered neighbor's tomcat (neighbor's neutered tomcat! ha!) was "Miss Kitty" until someone pointed something out. This time of year, with all the extra hair around their "naughty parts", you kind of upset digging around to get your facts straight. The only thing I can be sure of is that this cat isn't an unneutered male! Lucy is a good name for an orange-haired cat! (As in "I Love Lucy" ~ Lucille Ball.) Fopr the time being s/he is "Pumpkin" because several people told me that's what the cat should be named. I think it's a bit over used, plus "Lucy" fits the cat's personality. S/he's constantly getting into more situations and hijinx. "Loocy...you got some 'splaining to do!" Her/his latest: s/he just slipped out from behind the livingroom blinds, onto my computer table, where s/he sat right under my light (incandescent) on my mouse and keyboard, making it a bit tedious to finish this posting! Loocy!+6

Hi Katwoman, wlecome. If you do go into the Room, I will bring cabbage rolls and pierogis. can't have weggies hungry now can I. I had a botched nose surgery when I was 18, and have always since had a part of my cartilage missing, when I asked about having it repaired nobody would do it for fear that my body would simply absorb
anything synthetic and the only choice was to get some from my ribs, even that would not guarante that it would not be reabsorbed. I know some of the weggies here had had their noses done after the saddle nose so it is possible.

You know, only weggies could hold down their wedding banquet meals after hearing what we have to say about this and that, so I think you should invite only us weggies, Luce! Regardless of how you handle it, you will have the first weggie marriage I'm aware of on the forum. That should count for something!

I too, have not been on for a while, but I think about you all often!

Doug...cats or kittens? After my visit, I was sure you would be a dog person?

Luc3e...best of luck with your wedding plans. Talk about a stressor. Make it your own and try not to stress (much)

Welcome to our new people.

As for me, I am awaiting results of blood work.....ah blissfully glad to wait. feeling great too.

Hey Rcossio, mental note taken - although since WG mental notes don't seem to stay around for very long, hhmm have the gold fish syndrome , maybe should have called myself Dori ('Finding Nemo' fame).
Anywhoo's looking forward to getting to know you all, finally great to hear other people experiences and advice, keep smiling!

Thankfully my Mr Darcy...is definately a Mr - no problems with the digging around to get the facts (eewwh that is just disturbing that you thought of doing that) - he is a Devon Rex ..... love bald men....lol

Hi Katwoman, wlecome. If you do go into the Room, I will bring cabbage rolls and pierogis.
Thanks for your comments Jola, oh yum pierogis, I have fond memories of those the year i lived in Canada (Edmonton) - but a dangerous food to have around when ur on prednisone i dare say....:) hehehe
