I tried searching "LASIK" in the search bar but I didn't find sufficient answers. My question is has anyone on this forum got LASIK treatment? I consulted my specialist and he said that its okay for me to have LASIK but when I went to get my eyes checked at a TLC Vision A LASIK clinic here in Canada (Mississauga, Ontario to be exact) The eye specialist said that he would consult other physicans about my disease bc they don't have many records of LASIK treatment for my disease...He emailed me back a few days later and said that he wouldn't do the LASIK procedure bc its not safe. I want to do LASIK bc its for a career choice (Police Officer). Anyone had LASIK done?

Why is it more dangerous than cataract surgery which many of us have had?

Maybe they're not as confident about working with a high-risk patient? Maybe you would benefit from talking with a program that specializes in eye care to a greater extent. For example, the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins is renowned for their work (Baltimore, MD). I'm not sure of an equivalent in your area.

If you're near the NW, both Pacific University and OHSU have an eye doc who specializes in WG treatment for eyes, etc. I agree with both of the other statements, you should be able to do Lasik, there's not much of a risk of infection with laser treatments, ie. the new laser cancer treatments for children. Best to you.

I had Lasik in 2000 and had no problems with it. Will they do it if your specialist signs off on saying it's okay?

I had surgery recently to repair a hole in the Macula of one of my eyes. All the doctors assured me that there would be no problem with this and there wasn't. If an operation like that is safe I don't see why LASIK would not be safe too. Check with your doctor's first though.
