Kidney Biopsy

I'll be going in for a kidney biopsy this Friday. MRI shows a 3.8cm(golf ball) size tumor on my right kidney. Dr doesn't think it is related to GPA but we have to see if it's just a cyst or a renal cell carcinoma. Either way they don't want to remove the entire kidney since I do have GPA. I am hoping and praying it is just a cyst but either way I will move forward. I'll give an update once I know the results which should be next week.

Before I was diagnosed I had a mass about 5-6 cm in one kidney which they are first thought was cancerous.

Good luck on the biopsy.... Is this the type where they can stick a needle in and collect a sample or do they have to open you up a bit?

BTW, I know exactly where Stafford is -- I used to live in Burke.

It is a needle biopsy guided by Ultrasound. They think it's either a cyst or renal carcinoma based on the MRI.
I am familiar with Burke I was born in Stafford and been here for 53 years.

I guess the biopsy has been done now - unless it was cancelled.

Biopsy was completed now just have to wait for results. Hopefully this week

Still waiting for biopsy results. Was supposed to hear yesterday but nothing yet. My wife and I are celebrating out 32nd anniversary today so I hope it's good news!!

Dr called this morning and biopsy results are not cancer!! They said either a cyst or granuloma so I am sending biopsy results to DR Merkel for him to review. Otherwise wait 3 months and have another MRI and see if it has grown

Congrats! That's great news. I am still learning so don't actually know the ramifications if it is a granuloma but I'm glad you don't have the c-word.
